Chapter 138 Specifically Requested To See You
Lysander responded, “Oh, did you come today just to tell me this?”
“Don’t you think we should have a proper celebration?”
“Celebrate what?”
Daphne gave her shoulder a nudge. “Don’t you feel a sense of vengeance in your heart?”
After some thought, Lysander nodded, then shook her head.
In all fairness, she didn’t perceive Josiah as a bad person or a jerk.
At the very least, he could be considered a decent man compared to Harry.
He had been hopelessly in love with her for over a decade, yet he never forced his feelings upon her nor demanded a response. His affection was always expressed discreetly. When he saw her getting married, he let go, wishing her nothing but happiness.

As for how he treated her, he had fulfilled his duties as a husband admirably after they got married. He was gentle and respectful toward her. Apart from not being deeply in love, he had indeed done his well.

That being said, she didn’t marry Josiah out of love.
Thus, she considered the two of them to be even.
Daphne was preparing food while listening to Lysander’s analysis, continuously shaking her head. “That’s not the way to look at it. The homewrecker behaved with impunity in front of you, and Josiah never once defended you.
Lysander said, “I don’t need anyone’s protection.”
“You never know.” Daphne gestured with her chin toward Adrian, who was busy preparing ingredients not too far away. “Give him another chance. Don’t reject it outright.”
Lysander took a deep breath, then asked, “Why did you change your name to Daphne?”
“Because I’ve decided to cut off all romantic ties.”
“Do you find your current life fulfilling?”
“Hahaha, you can’t imagine how happy I am being alone, doing whatever I want to do.”
“Exactly.” Lysander nodded. “Since you can do it, I want to give it a try too.”
Taken aback, Daphne licked her lips. “Really, not even a single chance? Not a shred of hope?”
“Daphne,” Lysander said in a deep voice, shaking her head, “I’ll repeat what I said before. If you’ve decided to reject someone, don’t give them any hope. If you let him come over to cook and eat with you today, and accept his cookies tomorrow, you’re sending him a message–there’s hope. I don’t want to end up like Lysanne.”
From Lysander’s‘ tone, Daphne understood that the former’s stance was resolute.

“Alright, I understand,” she said. “I won’t try to play matchmaker for you two anymore.”
Lysander nodded understandingly. “I’ll still be working with Dr. Sutton in the hospital, so it won’t be good if things get too awkward between us. Please, don’t try to matchmaker us anymore.”
“Alright, alright, I understand…”
While they were talking, a cellphone suddenly rang.
It wasn’t Lysander’s or Daphne’s, as it originated from the living room.
Adrian picked up the call, responding with a series of hums with his voice growing progressively deeper.
Daphne stepped out, asking. “Do you have something going on? If you’re busy, you should go ahead.”
Adrian gave a nod. “I need to head back to the hospital.”
“Didn’t you just get off work? Why are you heading back? Is the hospital really short on anesthesiologists?”
Adrian remained silent. His gaze, however, shifted toward Lysander.
In order to avoid any misunderstandings. Lysander stayed in the kitchen, busying herself with food preparation. She did her best to minimize direct interactions with Adrian.
Daphne had just come to understand Lysander’s perspective, so she said, “Just go. Lysander is a doctor too. She knows how it is to be on call all the time. You two seem busier than the president himself. It seems like finding a partner in the medical field isn’t a good idea. You might be married, but there’s a chance you’ll end up living under the same roof and never seeing each other. That would be such a shame.”
The implications of Daphne’s words weren’t lost upon Adrian.
However, he still said, “Lysander, Dr. Ziegler also mentioned that it would be best if you could also come
over.
Lysander turned around and asked, “Is the patient pregnant?”
“Yes, but it’s not so much about her being pregnant… She specifically asked for you.”
“Who is it?”
“Lysanne.”
When Lysander arrived at the hospital entrance, she finally understood why the dean had insisted on her coming.
The heavily pregnant Lysanne stood alone by the roadside, holding a syringe to her neck.
