Chapter 101
“Is it fun to toy with me? Did Claude teach you this?” Xavier asked, his eyes reddening with each word.
As the heavy rain poured outside, Yvette’s ears grew damp. She could hear a slight rumbling.
She stopped pretending to have amnesia. “I just wanted to say goodbye to the past and start anew.”
Xavier laughed. He tightened his grip on her wrist and moved closer to her.
“You wanted to say goodbye to the past by faking your death? Did you ever think about how I would feel?” Xavier touched her cheek with the other hand and found her trembling. “Are you afraid of me?”
Yvette bit her lip so hard that she tasted blood before she finally spoke. “I’m begging you, Xavier. Give me my son. He’s not yours; he’s mine and Claude’s son. I beg you, give him back to us.”
Something seemed to snap in Xavier’s head when he heard Yvette say Noah wasn’t his son.
“If I remember correctly, it had been less than a month or two since we decided to divorce when you got together with Claude, right?
“Did
you fall in love with him and fake your death for him? What about my child?” Xavier demanded. His eyes were bloodshot as he squeezed Yvette’s wrist tighter.
Yvette felt like her hand was going to break. But this was nothing compared to the pain of him possibly taking Noah away from her later.
“I told you, didn’t I? I lost the baby.”
Yvette took a deep breath and replied in a hoarse voice, “Do you remember the second time you had fault. You killed the baby with your own hands,
sex with me? I was already pregnant then. It was you
Yvette knew she was despicable for doing this. She hoped Xavier would feel guilty enough to return Noah to her.
Xavier’s eyes were filled with shock. “Say that again.”
At this moment, he had completely lost his composure. He threw her onto the bed and pressed his entire body against her.
“What are you doing?” Yvette screamed. Her nerves were on edge as she watched Xavier become increasingly unhinged.
Xavier’s voice was icy as he snarled, “Do you think I would believe anything a habitual liar says?”
Tears streamed from Yvette’s eyes. She had hoped that Xavier would have a bit of conscience. But.
now she realized that he had none.
“I hate you,” said Yvette.
Xavier faltered slightly, but he didn’t stop.
Yvette struggled to resist.
“What’s wrong?” Xavier sneered. “Claude can touch you, but I can’t? We’re legally married, you know.”

Upon hearing that, Yvette stopped struggling and stared blankly at the ceiling. “When did you ever acknowledge me as your wife? Xavier, you’re really cruel…”
As Yvette voiced her accusations, Xavier’s large hand gently landed on her cheek, and his voice lowered. “Why come back after you chose to run away? Why did you knowingly invest in Lane Group’s project?”
Some time must have passed but the only thing Yvette could hear was a loud ringing. She could feel warm liquid trickling down the side of her face.
Xavier’s fingers brushed against something sticky. When he took a look at it, he saw that her right ear was stained with blood.
“Fuck!” he cursed as he hurriedly picked up Yvette and took her to the underground garage, where he got in the car and drove swiftly to the hospital.
Yvette didn’t understand why Xavier suddenly seemed so anxious or where he was taking her. However, she noticed how everything around her was unusually quiet.
“Xavier, where are you taking me?” She passed out before Xavier could respond.
Late at night, in the hospital, the doctor examined Yvette and checked her medical history. He identified the issue as an old condition.
After stopping the bleeding and prescribing some medication, the doctor informed Xavier, “She likely overexerted herself. Her ears are different from normal, making them prone to bleeding.”
After the doctor left, Xavier returned to the hospital room. He seemed calmer now.
Yvette looked unusually pale as she lay in the hospital bed. Her eyes were devoid of any life.
Xavier slowly approached her. “Why didn’t you tell me about your recurring illness?”
Yvette didn’t respond. She slowly turned her head; her eyes were empty. “Where is Noah?”
“I told you, he’s in a very safe place. As long as you obediently stay at Dewberry Manor, he’ll be fine.”
Xavier’s complexion wasn’t much better. His fever had subsided, but his cold lingered, leaving his throat dry and sore.
Yvette’s eyes were downcast when she heard those words. “I don’t understand why you’re doing this. You don’t even like me. Why are you insisting on me staying at Dewberry Manor?”
Xavier’s deep eyes glimmered. “Because you owe me that.”
