Chapter 24
The moment Alyssa’s words came out, Sean’s face instantly changed. He didn’t expect that Alyssa would threaten him. He thought she was becoming more and more misbehaved.
Sean said with a cold voice. “Alyssa, playing games won’t work. You might really lose me. You know, I don’t like wornen. playing-
“Three minutes,” Alyssa didn’t let him fish and hung up decisivily,
There was a busy signal on the cell phone. Sean was shaking with anger but didn’t want to seem embarrassed in front of his. buddies. He pretended Alyssa hadn’t hung up yet and said, “Okay, no need to apologize. I’m drinking. Don’t call me.”
The other guys all looked at him with admiration. “Good for you. Sean. You’ve totally tamed Ms. Dawson.”
“A few years back, people said Ms. Dawson was tough as nails–Sean managed to change that view in just two years. Man, Sean, you gotta write a book on how to handle women, someone chimed in.
Sean listened but was feeling antsy. Alyssa had only given him a three–minute window. He needed to call Brenda to let Alyssa in.
He said. “I’m gonna use the restroom. You guys carry on. I’ll be right back.” And then he ducked out of the bar.

Right after stepping out, he immediately hit up Brenda’s number on his phone.
Brenda picked up the phone super fast when Sean rang up.

Right off the bat, she dived in. “Sean, guess what? Alyssa was out all day, left me and Megan hanging without anyone to whip up some food, and didn’t even bother to clean up the mess from last night. We’ve been trying to reach her all day, and nada. She’s seriously getting on my nerves. You gotta talk to her. And if this happens again, maybe think twice before putting a ring on it.”
Hearing his mom go off about Alyssa being out all day made Scan frown. He used to think he could keep tabs on Alyssa easily, but now, not so much. Still, he quickly said, “Mom, Alyssa’s actually right outside. Can you let her in? Oh, and fill her in on the main door’s code.”
“Is she outside?” Brenda hurried to the door, peeked through the peephole, and spotted Alyssa out there. She couldn’t help bur
sneer, “So, she remembers where home is, huh? I mean, have you ever seen a married woman roll in this late? And you’re defending her. You will spoil her,
Sean was clearly frustrated. “Mom, just open the door and let her in, will you? We’re in Ocean Enclave- it’s not exactly low- key around here. You’re locking out my future wife. What kind of impression do you think this makes? You can give her a piece of your mind when she’s inside if you really need to.”
“Fine,” Brenda muttered, reluctantly heading to open the door.
Seeing Brenda, Alyssa picked up her pace to enter.
Brenda didn’t waste any time. “Why on earth are you just getting back now? Can’t you keep track of time? You’re nearly married. It’s time to stop acting like a kid and start looking after things around here for Sean, got it!”
Alyssa didn’t bother responding and headed straight for her room.
