Chapter 365
Suddenly, Queena realized something. She grabbed Cynthia’s sleeve and asked, “Cynthia, did you just say Hallet has a fever?”
“Yes, he started running a fever last night after we got back. That’s why he asked me to look after you. I’m not sure if his fever has gone down yet,” Cynthia replied.

Querna couldn’t sit still anymore. She remembered Hallet had been sick before and had eaten the same drugged cake as her. She thought he must be feeling even worse than she did. With that thought, she got out of bed and rushed to Hallet’s room
Cynthia shook her head slightly as she watched Queens’s hurried figure. It seemed last night’s events had brought the two of them closer.
Hallet’s fever had subsided after a night, but he still felt weak and light–headed, with an occasional cough. He slept with his head covered, sweating all over just as he was drifting off, someone knocked on the door. He lay in bed and was reluctant to move, but the knock was persistent. Disturbed by the noise, he reluctantly dragged himself out of bed to open the door.
Sull feeling sick, he grumbled irritably, “Who’s banging on the fucking door?”
he stood there stunned. Lucas was also

It was the first time Queena had heard Hallet cursing, so she was taken aback. Her hand froze mid–air, and she i taken aback. He didn’t expect to see Queena in front of his door so early.
Seeing her stunned face, he immediately snapped to attention and hastily apologized, Tm sorry, Queena. I didn’t mean to snap. I’m just feeling really dizzy right now”
As soon as he finished speaking, he felt her arms wrap tightly around his neck, her fresh scent filling his senses
“Are you still feeling very sick? Querna asked, not minding his earlier outburst, her concern solely on his well–being.
Hallet was surprised and stood motionless like a wooden statue. All his discomfort seemed to vanish, replaced by the warmth in his arms. It was the first time Queens had shown such open affection to him while being fully conscious.
Feeling overwhelmed, he shook his head, speaking through his congestion, “It’s not too bad.”
Queena anxiously felt Hallet’s forehead and was relieved to know that he wasn’t running a fever anymore. She stepped hack from him and gently pushed him back into the room. “You’re still not fully recovered yet. You need to rest
As she nudged him inside. Haller’s eyebrows arched slightly as he thought, “Why is she so affectionate today? Does she want to repay her kindness because I saved her last night? Or does she already have a clear feeling for me after what happened last night and intend to commit to me?”
The more he pondered, the more delighted he became Just then, he coughed and felt a pain in his chest. Only then did he realize that he was still sick and that Queena might get infected by him. He immediately stopped in his tracks, covered his mouth with his hand, and stepped back six feet iway. “No, I’m sick now. You can’t get too close to me, or you will be infected”
Querna found herself pushing at thin air and stood there, pouting
“I don’t mind. Besides, last night, we she trailed off, blushing and struggling to find words that weren’t too explicit. “We were so close with each other last night. If you were going to infect me, it would have happened already”
“So you do remember what happened last night, Hallet murmured. Since Queena remembered the events, he didn’t feel the need to explain what happened anymore. Just then, another coughing fit struck him, and he stepped back another three feet. ‘But just because you didn’t catch it last night doesn’t mean you won’t today. It’s miserable to catch a cold. You’d better stay away from me.”
Seeing Hallet acting like he wanted to be away from her, Queena put her hands on her hips and turned determined. She stepped forward every time Hallet stepped back until she had him cornered against the wall. She thought he would finally give in, but instead, he resorted to using force by grabbing her collar and hauling her toward the door.
“Hallet, what are you doing? Let go of me!” Queena shouted while struggling
“He good. I’ll spend time with you once I’m better,” Hallet said, muffling his words with one hand as he pushed her out with the other. Then, he slammed the door shut
Querna steadied herself and kicked the door angrily, only to wince in pain in return. Just then, Cynthia came out of the room
som and saw the scene. She raised her eyebrows in surprise. She had seen Queena leave cheerfully and now witnessed her being shut out by Haller
Stepping forward, she poked the sulking Queena and asked, “What’s going on?”
“Cynthia, does Hallet dislike me?” As soon as Queena saw Cynthia, she burst into tears. “He’s sick, and I wanted to take care of him, but he wouldn’t
Understanding g the situation, Cynthia hurriedly comforted her, “He probably doesn’t want to infect you. Don’t overthink it. Once he’s better, you

“But… Tears streamed down Queena’s face as she lowered her head. After what happened last night, she thought they were now a couple, and as Hallet’s girlfriend, it was her duty to take care of her boyfriend. In all the romance novels she’d read, the protagonists were inseparable after being intimate with each other. But now, Hallet was pushing her away. She wondered if that implied he didn’t want to be her boyfriend at all, or if he was dissatisfied with her last night, so he was acting indifferent.
The more Queena thought about it, the sadder she felt. She didn’t know how to voice out her thoughts to Cynthia. After a moment, she finally released her frustration and wiped her tears away angrily. “Fine, if he doesn’t want my care. I’ll be happy to be left alone.”
With that, she turned and walked back to her room. Cynthia watched Queena with a puzzled expression, but she didn’t dwell on it, thinking that Queena had a child’s temperament. Since Hallet was the one who upset her, she thought that he should deal with the fallout and comfort Queeni himself. She had Liam to console herself after making him sleep alone last night.
Back in her room. Cynthia looked around for Liam but (couldn’t find him. Just as she was about to worry that he had sneaked out to look for other women while sleeping alone last night, the door was pushed open
She turned to see Liam entering with a takeout box. Rushing to him, she flung herself into his arms. “Honey, how was your sleep last night?”
The soup in the takeout box was still hot. Worried it might spill, Liam carefully shifted the box to the side before wrapping his other arm around Queena’s waist. He leaned down and planted a gentle kiss on the latter’s forehead. “I missed you and couldn’t sleep all night.”
