“We’re clearing away the negative energy!” Julia told Millie. “A tidy house brings good energy.”
Millie believed Julia must have seen the press conference where Winston showed up with Joanna. She couldn’t shake the feeling that she had let her family down by bringing disgrace upon them.
Winston had truly crossed a line this time. He hadn’t considered the Caldwells at all.
Millie pouted and looked up at Julia.
“Why can’t I get this clean?” Julia muttered while cleaning.
Millie’s gaze darkened slightly. She knew full well there was a deeper implication behind her mother’s words. So, she chuckled and teased, “Are you guys deep cleaning the house because Grandpa consulted the psychic again?”
Julia waved in response. “No, it’s not that. Go wash up! We’re having dinner together. Thomas is here today.”
Millie blinked, Thomas was back?
She immediately dashed into the house, and sure enough, Thomas was playing chess with Terrence. The two brothers were having a great time together and the atmosphere was wonderful.
“Uncle Thomas!” Millie called out.
Thomas lifted his head and noticed her. “Ah! Millie, come here!”
“Uncle Thomas, you didn’t even visit me when I was in the hospital! I’m upset. Hmph!”
Even so, Millie still sat down beside Thomas.
Terrence chuckled. It was evident how close she was to Thomas. She didn’t even greet her father upor seeing him. Terrence couldn’t help but feel she was showing favoritism.
“I came right away with a roasted lamb because I heard you’ve been discharged!” Thomas lightly tapped Millie’s head.
Millie blinked repeatedly. “Are we having roasted lamb for dinner?”
“Yes, we’re just waiting for you. Dinner’s ready to be served!” Thomas replied with a grin.
Millie nodded. “Okay, Uncle Thomas, you’re still so reliable.”
Thomas countered, “When have I ever let you down?”
washing her hands, Millie came out with an apple and sat down, saying, “Rachel mentioned that there’s a gala happening in Yerwick in a few days for the people in the entertainment industry. Will you be attending?”
“Yes, do you want to come along?” Thomas asked while playing chess.
“Is it fun?” Millie asked back, biting into the apple.
Thomas narrowed his eyes and chuckled. “Of course, it is. There are plenty of attractive men.”
But Millie shook her head, declining.

“Give her an invitation so she can join in the fun, Terrence suggested.
Thomas immediately clapped his hands. “I was thinking the same thing!”
“It’s just a dull party where everyone shows off their authority. What’s enjoyable about that?” Millie remarked as she rose to check on the roasted lamb.
“For us, it might be an event where everyone displays their influence, but for some newcomers in the industry, it’s a chance to rise quickly and network with important connections.
“Isn’t it better to have more connections and fewer enemies?” Thomas asked Millie.
Millie gazed at him, unable to find the words to retort.
“You’re right.” In the end, she nodded in agreement before going off to check on the roasted lamb.
Thomas laughed heartily in return. “Since she was young, she has always been able to handle anything that comes her way.”
He then said to Terrence, “Terrence, she doesn’t take after you in this.”
“Who else would she take after then? She’s my daughter, after all!” Terrence replied with a huff.
A mischievous grin spread across Thomas‘ face. “Yes, Indeed, she’s your biological daughter.”
His eyes sparkled with amusement when he deliberately emphasized “biological daughter“. Terrence cleared his throat lightly, displeasure written all over his face. He moved to sit next to Thomas and warned, “Stop making those jokes at home. We’re not planning on letting Millie find out!”
“Got it.” Thomas sighed and made his final move on the chessboard. “Oh well, I lost. I’m going to find Millie.”
Having said that, he headed to the courtyard.
Terrence stared at Thomas‘ retreating figure. At that moment, he was overwhelmed with unease.
If this matter ever came to light, it would seem like Thomas was the one who exposed it. How did he even discover it back then?
