Chapter 86: Marcus: Appeal, Make Her Regret It!
The mediation agreement came in duplicate,
Marcus clutched his copy, the veins on his temples throbbing.
“Who gave you the right to issue this without my consent?”
The staff member remained calm and professional.
“This document only exists because both parties went through mediation and refused to reconcile.”
“Has Mr. Wilson been to court recently?”
Marcus reflexively denied, “No.”
“Then have you received any calls from the court?”
He opened his mouth to deny again but froze, his face darkening as if something had just clicked
The staff member, unfazed by his lack of response, continued.
“We follow strict evidence protocols. If Mr. Wilson has any objections, you’re welcome to retrieve the records through legal procedures.”
With that, the staff member gave a polite smile, greeted Gemma, and left.
Marcus’s expression turned stormy.
His entire demeanor radiated menace, as if he were ready to explode.
Brian stepped in, blocking Marcus’s glare
“Mr. Wilson, you no longer have any ties to Gemma. I suggest you show some restraint. Otherwise…”
His tone was icy, his eyes full of warning
The tension was palpable–if Marcus so much as took a step forward, Brian looked ready to act
“This was all your idea, wasn’t it?”
Marcus’s finger pointed at Brian, but his icy glare settled on Gemma,
The disdain in his eyes was barely concealed.
“Do you really think the Read family can protect you?”
Gemma frowned.
What nonsense was this man spouting now?
Before she could retort, Brian let out a cold laugh
“Whether we can or not, Mr. Wilson, you’re welcome to test it.”
Marcus’s eyes burned with fury. “The Read family will face the consequences. Don’t worry–you’ll see soon enough.”
Taking two steps closer to Gemma, he growled, “Gemma, are you really willing to break things off with me for this man?”
Gemma couldn’t help but find his logic absurd
“Mr. Wilson, do you still not understand why we ended up here?”
She wanted to list all the grievances she’d swallowed over the years.
But then she paused.
She’d poured her heart out so many times before, and Marcus had never listened.
All she ever got in return was a dismissive, “Can you stop making a fuss?”
So instead of wasting her breath, her voice dripped with sarcasm.
“Of course. You’re never at fault. It’s always someone else’s problem, right?”
Marcus’s fists clenched tightly.
What did she mean by that?
Chapter 6 Marcus Appeal, Make Her Regret
Her humble background hadn’t bothered him when they married
She avoided social events, and he respected that, never forcing her to attend.
She didn’t want to be a full–time housewife to care for him and Ali, and he didn’t push her.
Compared to other men, hadn’t he already been accommodating enough?
By any standard, he was the perfect husband–a rare gem!
And yet, she wasn’t satisfied.
Now she had the audacity to say he was in the wrong?
What did she want? A husband who constantly belittled her, schemed against her? Was that the excitement she craved?
Ridiculous!
Clearly, he’d spoiled her too much.
She’d never experienced real hardship in life..
“So, you’re dead set on leaving me?”
Gemma shot back, “Haven’t I made myself clear enough!”
Ugh, what a chore!
Even exchanging a single sentence with him now felt exhausting
Marcus let out a string of cold laughs.
Fine
Fine!
He’d like to see how she fared without his protection in this cutthroat work..
When she regretted it and came crawling back, it’d be too late!
“Fine! Don’t come crying later!”
He stormed off, silently counting in his head.
He was sure…
His words had shaken her.
Surely, Gemma would panic and chase after him.
Buil
He counted to twenty, fifty, a hundred…
He reached the hospital exir, stood there for ten more minutes, and still-
No sign of her.
His chest felt like it was about to burst from the heat of a raging volcano.
His eyes turned bloodshot.
Gemmal
Let’s see how long you last this time!
Taking deep breaths, he forced himself to calm down.
Then he dialed the head of his legal department.
“Now that the mediation agreement is issued, the next step is court proceedings, right? That takes months? I don’t care what you do delay it as much as possible!”
“And even if it goes to court, remember one thing: I do not agree to the divorce!”
After hanging up, he felt slightly less suffocated. His mind cleared, but the anger still simmered.
“Oh, and compile all my marital expenses into a detailed bill. Send it to Gemma”
If she wanted to leave him, fine.

But she’d better know what it would cost her.
The legal head stammered after seeing the mediation agreement.
“Mr. Wilson, this agreement is already in effect.”
Marcus’s face darkened. “Do you think I don’t know that? I want you to file a suit…
“What I mean is, there’s no need for a court hearing anymore.”
Marcus felt like a bucket of cold water had just been dumped over his head
“Explaint”
The lawyer quickly clarified, “This was resolved through mediation. The divorce didn’t require a judge’s approval. If mediation fails, the agreement is automatically issued, ending the marriage.”
Marcus froze, disbelief washing over him. “You’re saying.. I’m already divorced from Gemma?”
Marcus’s expression turned icy.
So, Gemma had played him!
After all these years together, he knew her too well.
This was payback for him dragging his feet on the divorce.
A deliberate act of revenge
Hal
Their marriage had started on his terms–she became Mrs. Wilson because he allowed it.
It was through the Wilson name she got her hospital position and all her successes.
Even if they were to divorce, it should have been his decision-
Why did she get to take control?
“Appeal!” Marcus gritted his teeth, gripping his phone. “File the appeal now!”
“Understood, Mr. Wilson. I’ll draft the paperwork immediately.”
Meanwhile, Gemma let out a long sigh of relief.
She couldn’t stop staring at the mediation agreement,
It was reall
Just to be safe, she called the court for confirmation.
“Do I need to get a divorce certificate to finalize this?”
“If you need one, you can apply for it. But this document has full legal validity. You’re already divorced”
“When will my marital status be updated?”
“It’ll be processed within five work days.”
“Thank you
Gemma hung up and flipped through the agreement again
Tears streamed down her face-
Tears of joy, tears of freedom!
Goodbye, Mrs. Wilson
Goodbye, the life of a damn wealthy wife.
From now on, she was just Gemma,
Suddenly, a tissue appeared in her blurry vision.
She quickly wiped her tears with her hands and looked up.

It was Brian, his face warm and gentle.
“Brian, sorry for the scene,” she said awkwardly.
Brian smiled faintly. Seeing her refuse the tissue, he stepped closer…
Slowly, he raised his hand, ready to help her wipe away her tears.
