Chapter 134 Jerk Max: I Stood Up for You. Are You Happy Now!
Jerk Max: I Stood Up for You. Are You Happy Now?
Gemma sat in the car, watching the scenery fly by outside the window.
Her wrist was still being gripped tightly by the man.
The force was so strong.
It left red marks, almost drawing blood.
“Marcus, what exactly do you want?”
Marcus stared at her.
His eyes were dark and intense, filled with a storm of emotions.
But his face was eerily calm.
He completely ignored her fear.
Even letting out a soft chuckle.
“I know you’ve been blaming me.”
Gemma blinked, completely thrown off.
She couldn’t help but wonder if this guy was losing it.
Before the divorce, he couldn’t stand her.
No matter what she did, it irritated him.
Now, post–divorce, he seemed to suddenly think she was great and kept asking her to come back.
The car lights sliced through the night as they drove on.
She slowly started to calm down.
Right now,
she was being kidnapped, but there was Mr. Cassius’s bodyguard somewhere nearby. Even if they didn’t manage to save her in time, she was sure they’d figure out a way to get her out of this.
Plus, she had the tracker watch Cassius gave her.
The problem? Marcus’s grip on her wrist was so tight, she couldn’t reach it.
So, the priority was to calm down the kidnapper.
“I’m not blaming you.”
That wasn’t a lie.
She’d basically forced the marriage.
So what happened after was on her.
She only blamed herself for getting swept up in the fairytale of “happily ever after” and ignoring the character flaws.
It seemed sincere enough that
Marcus loosened his grip.
“You’re still as kind as ever.”
“When you first came to my house, your voice was just as gentle.”
“You wrapped every sharp corner in the house with foam strips so I wouldn’t bump into them.”
“You’d patiently show me every little thing, making sure I knew the place like the back of my hand.”
“When I went blind, I thought my life was over.”
“But you showed me that even without sight, I could still live just fine.”
He used to think she was like the sun-
No matter where she went, she’d light up the place.
He even swore that no matter what, he’d make sure she was happy for the rest of her life.
But then…
“Then I started neglecting you, helping Mabel way too much.”
“I thought as long as I wasn’t cheating, I was in the clear.”
“But-”
His voice suddenly grew intense.
Gemma tried to make a move towards the watch, but his grip tightened again.

“Gemma, seeing you talk and laugh with other men… I can’t handle it”
“So, you must be blaming me for not keeping my distance from Mabel,”
Gemma couldn’t break free, so she had to keep trying to soothe him.
“It’s fine, I understand. You and Mabel have a deep connection.”
Come on, just a little more, I’m almost there!
Marcus was lost in his own world, not noticing her subtle movements.
Even if he did, he wouldn’t care.
He was determined to get his way.
Hearing Gemma’s words made him even more convinced that everything was going exactly as planned.
His tone even had a hint of excitement.
“I’m glad you understand.”
Understand and respect, so why the hell are you kidnapping me?
But she didn’t dare provoke him, so she played it cool. “It’s all in the past.”
“Yeah, Gemma, it’s all in the past. Don’t worry, I know you’ve been through a lot. I’ll make it up to you, I promise.” “You don’t like Mabel, right?”
“I swear she’ll never come near you again, I won’t let her mess with our lives.”
Gemma was starting to get a headache.
She really should’ve taken a psych course in college.
How do you deal with a guy who’s got a split personality?
She could only try to glance at the rearview mirror, hoping the bodyguards were still there.
But nope, nothing.
Just then, the car screeched to a halt.
She snapped back to reality and saw they had pulled up in front of a lavish hotel.
It was the Star Sea Hotel, famous all over N.L city.
When she first came to the city, she worked here.
And because of that, Marcus had forbidden her from returning after they married.
Why did he bring her here now?
But Marcus was holding her tightly, escape wasn’t an option. The good news was that in this place, he couldn’t get too crazy.
Suddenly, a bunch of staff rushed out, all bowing to them in unison.
“Congratulations!”
Huh?
The manager, the one who used to oversee her work, stepped forward, looking utterly ashamed.
“Mrs. Wilson, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know who you were. Please, forgive me.”
Gemma froze for a moment.
‘When she first came to N.L city, she was frail, slow, and the manager often yelled at her for not being fast enough.
But that didn’t really bother her.
Outside of work, the manager would save her leftovers and sometimes even give her clothes.
So she never thought about getting revenge. She considered the manager a decent person.
“Gemma, if you can’t forgive her, I’ll make her leave N.L city for good.”
Marcus’s face was icy, and his voice was cold enough to kill.
The manager nearly collapsed in fear.
Gemma’s thoughts were interrupted as she watched the now–teary–eyed manager. She sighed, unable to suppress her mood.
“Marcus, what do you want?”
Marcus shot a cold laugh, his gaze turning toward the staff.
“I’m going to let them all know you’re my wife. If they mess with you, they’re messing with me!”
If it had been a few years ago, hearing this would’ve made Gemma happy. She would’ve felt recognized and validated.
But now? Her heart was dead cold. In fact, she was kind of disgusted.
Just then, the lobby manager who’d docked her a hundred bucks in wages came out, red–eyed, apologizing.

“Mrs. Wilson, I was wrong before. I misunderstood you. I shouldn’t have fined you. To make up for it, I’m giving up my year–end bonus this year as an apology.”
Gemma froze again.
That wasn’t the manager’s fault!
When she broke that dish worth 1,800, she was only fined 100 bucks, and she actually thought she got off easy.
“You…”
“You think giving up your bonus will make up for the emotional damage you caused my wife?” Marcus snapped, his tone icy,
The manager nearly broke down, stammering, “I… I… I…”
“I’ve already forgiven them.”
Gemma was done trying to figure out what this guy was doing. At this point, she just didn’t want anyone else to get dragged into this mess.
She had no choice but to go along with him.
Marcus waved a hand dismissively, and the staff immediately turned and left, like they’d just been granted mercy.
Then, he turned to her, his lips curling into a faint smile.
“I stood up for you. Are you happy now?”
