Chapter 139
The sound of my phone wakes me. I grab it quickly and mute the call to avoid waking Eros. Grabbing my shoes, I walk out of the room.
“Hello?” My voice is quiet as I wait.
“Where are you? What happened to don’t go in until you arrive?” Clara laughs, I look at my phone, shit I forgot.
“I’m coming. Don’t go in until I get there,” I say, and she laughs. I forgot she had an early shoot this morning; it begins outside before moving inside.
“Okay, okay, I will wait,” she says and hangs up.
I glance down at myself, my dress is in the bedroom, I slept in his shirt. Sighing, I slip the shoes on, grab my bag and leave. It’s like a shirt dress. Sure, it’s a man’s shirt, but it’s fashion. Keeping the phone in my hand, I ensure I watch it in case she rings.
Getting outside, I jump in the taxi and soon find myself sitting outside watching Clara and the scene begin. I don’t get why they keep placing her with Wesley. It’s like they do it knowing she isn’t comfortable with him.

“Okay, inside for that part,” Dale calls out, and I walk in with Clara. Sitting, I watch. She’s working for three hours straight today. I told her it was wrong and crazy, but she was stubborn.
Grabbing my phone, I see the missed calls from Eros. I can’t help but smile when I see his name. As I’m about to click the message, I hear a commotion.
“Miss Alexis Burns,” I turn and see the police.
“Yes?” Standing I look at them, and Clara rushes over, I watch as they avert their eyes from her. “Put clothes on, Clara,” I say.
“We have reason to believe you have stolen something. May we see your bag, please?” One of them looks at me, and I glance behind to see Eros walking through.
Picking up the bag I hand the cop it, what the hell am I accused of stealing like? This place has nothing of value.
“Mr Pierce, is this it?” I turn and look at the cop. No, I didn’t take it, I stare at the necklace then at Eros.
“I swear I didn’t,” I look at him and panic, feeling my arms get pulled around my back.
“Guys, if this is a joke, it isn’t funny!” Clara yells.

“I didn’t take it. Why would I?” I look at Eros.
“Security said they saw you leaving and pushing it into the bag,” he replies. My head shakes.
“No, I didn’t put it there. Why would I?” I refused his money and everything else. I wouldn’t do that. “Eros, after how I’ve acted over you paying for me, do you really think I would steal from you?” I shouted. I watched as one of the cops guided him away and spoke to him.
“Alexis!” Clara looks at me.
“It’s fine. Be careful today. No money is worth your limits!” I say, reminding her.
“Eros won’t believe it,” she says.
“He already does, fuck them.” I smile and get taken out. Headlines will look amazing, Bunny Wild, cuffed and arrested, and not as part of a porn movie..
“How long will this take?” I ask, looking at the cops in the front.
“It depends on how you cooperate. Considering Mr Pierce is a powerful man, it depends on who questions you,” he says, and I nod. “If I’m honest, you picked the wrong person to steal from Miss Burn’s.” He laughs.
Chapter 139
I didn’t steal it. I don’t know how it got in my bag, but in no way did I steal it. I find myself sitting in a call for hours, this is what happens when I trust someone. When I let a guy into my life as more than just a random fuck.
What everyone thinks of me doesn’t matter, but Eros? I honestly thought he would have realised that I wouldn’t fucking steal. Especially not from him.
The door slams open, and the woman looks at me in disgust. Great, this isn’t going to go well when she already hates me based on my career.
“Miss Burns, this way,” she says and I stand. I watch as they handcuff me. This shit has to be a joke, I keep thinking it, but it isn’t.
Sitting in the room, I face her.
“How did a necklace worth billions end up in your purse?” she asks.
“I don’t know. I haven’t even used my purse today,” I argue.
“Miss Burns, if you just admit it and get it sorted, you can likely leave today.”
“I didn’t take it,” I snap.

“Miss Burns, someone saw you putting it in your bag. Can you explain that?” She sits waiting.
“No comment; that is what they do, right?” I ask.
“Did you ask Mr Pierce that question because you knew about the necklace and hoped he would take it out of the safe and show you?” she asks.
“No comment.” She can get screwed.
“Must be a hard life having to sell your body and do porn to make ends meet. The necklace was there. Easy to sell if the price was cheap enough, right?”
“No comment,” I say. I don’t know how long I’ve sat here and listened to her questions. My reply is always, ‘No Comment‘.
“Miss Burns, we’re going to have to charge you as you’re not answering.” She glares at me.
“Then fucking charge me. I didn’t do it!” I shout. The knock has us turn, and she walks to the door. Opening it, there is muffled talking.
“Apparently, you have a solicitor,” she says and sits. I watch the guy walk in and sit beside me. I didn’t order one.
Chapter 139
“As I was saying, Miss Burns,” she begins, and he raises his
hand.
“I think this needs to end. Mr Pierce has already expressed to the police who arrived on the scene that she didn’t do. He was told she had to be brought in and questioned anyway. That was eighteen hours ago,” he argues.
“We’re doing checks. I get Mr Pierce thinks she is innocent, but the jewellery was in her bag,” she argues back.
“Which you have said to him repeatedly and refused even to let him speak to her. For eighteen hours, he has been waiting for her to be released, and you delayed it. She didn’t steal the necklace; he has it back and isn’t pressing charges.”
So he doesn’t think I did it? I was so sure he did.
“Mr Westbrook, I understand he doesn’t believe she did, but that could be wrong,” she argues.
“Wrong or not, he isn’t pressing charges. You’re pushing this too much, and I am beginning to wonder if that is purely down to her occupation. Now, if you’re not going to release her, charge her, and I want to hear them,” he stares her down.
I watch as she sighs and stands.
“Fine, but we will be watching you, Bunny Wild,” she warns.

“That isn’t allowed, as you’re aware. Without a reason, you can’t just watch someone,” he stares at her. She doesn’t reply; she just walks out the door. Turning, I look at him.
“You would have been out hours ago, but I was busy and had to fly back. If there are signs of her or anyone watching you, let me know. There is no warrant for it,” he says and guides me out.
I just want my bed. As I get outside, Eros is waiting.
“Thank you, Gary,” he shakes the guy’s hand and turns to me.
“Don’t, I just want to go home,” I say and turn to walk away. I don’t want to talk. I need to think about this.
“At least let me drive you home,” he says, sighing. I nod. As I get in the car, I avoid looking at him.
“I’m sorry. I know it looked like I thought…”
“Eros, stop. I’m exhausted. I need a shower and sleep. Forget it,” I say, stopping him from speaking. He nods and stays quiet. The car stops, and I get out and go into my apartment without even looking back.
