Chapter 170: Mabel Is Pregnant
“Max?”
She thought Marcus might have been speaking out of extreme anger.
In reality, it wasn’t what she had heard.
She forced a smile, more painful than tears, “What did you just say?”
She quickly wiped away the tear at the corner of her eye.
Her eyes, bloodshot, looked over.
Marcus looked over.
The evidence in court today almost shattered his previous understanding.
It turned out that Mabel had sent so many things that could be easily misunderstood.
When the evidence was presented, he clearly saw tears glistening in Gemma’s eyes.
So, she was still angry.
Angry at his inaction back then.
If only he had investigated thoroughly, he would have understood Mabel’s intentions long ago and wouldn’t have let Gemma suffer so much.
To make a better attempt at redemption later.
He had to sever ties with Mabel completely.
“You didn’t hear wrong, I said break up.”
Mabel suddenly stood up.
Probably because she had been crying for too long, her brain lacked oxygen, and she was a bit unstable on her feet.
She grabbed the armrest of the sofa again and barely steadied herself.
“Max, what do you mean? You’ve even…”
“Mabel.”
Marcus retorted, “Haven’t I given you enough resources over the years? Without me, you’d have fallen apart in this circle by now, right?”
Mabel’s pupils shrank sharply.
She couldn’t even believe that the man who had once been so accommodating to her was now speaking in such a cold tone, saying such heartless
words.
“Max, is it because you’ve been triggered, that you’re speaking without thinking?”
She took two steps forward and grabbed Marcus’s wrist.
“Max, do you remember? We used to fantasize about me standing at the highest point in the entertainment industry, you standing at the highest point in business, and us becoming each other’s light!”
“You would lift me up in the entertainment industry, and I would endorse Wilson for free.”
“Max, we were aligned in our values, we were true soulmates.”
Marcus pinched her finger.
A sharp pain spread through her entire body instantly.
She trembled and loosened her grip.
A layer of cold sweat formed on her forehead.
‘Max.”
Her voice cracked with a sob.
Her face was visibly panicked.
Marcus coldly looked at her, having long lost any trace of affection.
Ill give you three days to move out of here.”
“From now on, whatever you do has nothing to do with me, and I won’t take your calls anymore.”
‘Also, don’t try to find me through other means, or I’ll make sure you can’t stay in Kyoto!”
He finished, then turned to leave.
Mabel was terrified. She couldn’t just watch Marcus leave her like this!
Otherwise, her fate would be disastrous!
“Max!”

She ran over and hugged Marcus’s waist from behind.
“You can’t just leave like this. What about the promises you made to me back then? Do they not count anymore?”
Marcus didn’t move to push her away.
Instead, he sighed softly.
He closed his eyes.
“I didn’t want things to get to this point.”
“But you wouldn’t let go, so don’t blame me.”
Mabel froze, confused.
But then, the man’s voice came again.
“Do you think when I go to discuss a partnership with Mr. Raven, he’ll say anything nice to me?”
Her hand loosened.
It fell heavily,
Marcus didn’t look back and left the apartment immediately.
Mabel seemed to lose all her energy and collapsed onto the floor.
Over the years, she had indeed fallen in love with Marcus again,
Even though this love wasn’t pure,
Now this man was leaving, pulling himself out of her world.
She realized that every space in her heart held Marcus’s shadow.
“Marcus!”
She growled softly.
She threw the pillow next to her at the door.
But no matter how much she broke down, no one would respond.
The living room of the apartment was very spacious, and truly empty.
Her crying echoed through the room.
Sad, tragic, and miserable.
Eventually, she fainted.
Marcus drove to the apartment building where Gemma was renting,
He saw Cali go out to take the trash and then happily go get her package.
But he didn’t see Gemma.
He hadn’t really expected much before coming, so he wasn’t too disappointed.
He just felt that the long night made him feel incredibly melancholic.
Cali received a call in the hallway, about to go back, but when she saw the car that had been parked haphazardly earlier still there, she frowned.
The owners have really been getting worse lately.
She was about to step forward to say something when Gemma’s call came in.
She thought for a moment.
Forget it.
Let the happy one give way.
She hurried back to the hallway and answered the call.
Although Marcus couldn’t see her, he felt that resting closer to Gemma was still somewhat enjoyable.
So, he made do and spent the whole night in the car.
The car was lacking oxygen.
By the time he was found, it was already the early hours of the next morning during the security patrol.
He was rushed to the hospital.
Coincidentally, he and Mabel ended up in the same emergency room.
Their beds were even next to each other.
The difference was
Mabel now had a trendy looking young man beside her.

He kept calling her “honey” and “dear,” continuously.
He would occasionally pull out small trinkets to cheer Mabel up.
Mabel didn’t expect Marcus to be sent to the hospital.
She had originally planned to take care of him, but then she thought she should make Marcus feel some sense of crisis.
For example, when they were together, Marcus had dismissed Gemma.
But after they broke up, and she had Brian, Marcus began to get anxious.
She took a deep breath and smiled at the young man.
“Can you peel an apple for me?”
The young man immediately beamed and rushed to serve her.
Marcus only felt annoyed by the noise.
He rubbed his forehead, feeling frustrated to the extreme.
But the young man kept chattering, either telling jokes or gossiping about the circle.
It seemed endless.
He immediately requested the nurse to move him to a different place.
The nurse checked his medical chart.
“You’re fine, once you finish the IV, you can go ahead and discharge.”
The implied message was, if you want peace and quiet, leave the hospital and go home for that.
Mabel wanted to attract Marcus’s attention, so she called the nurse.
“What about me? Can I leave?”
She came early but wasn’t given any medication, so it should be fine.
But to her surprise.
The nurse frowned, “It’s not possible yet. Your test results haven’t come through. Just wait a bit longer.”
Mabel’s smile immediately faltered.
“What test results?”
She had been there all night, and if it was a routine test, it would have been done by now.
Unless it required pathological studies and multiple reviews, which would take longer.
But that was for severe cases!
Seeing her pale face and panicked expression, the nurse quickly realized she had misunderstood and hurriedly explained.
“Don’t worry, it’s HCG. It tests whether you’re really pregnant.”
