Chapter 7
“Go after her Someone yelled from behind me, a dog barking lolly.
Did they send a dog after me? The distant barks were enough to answer my question.
My heart jumped at the thought of that, and just like that. I could see my chances of escaping dwindling.
It didn’t make it better that I had no idea where I was running to but I wasn’t going to give up just like that.
I picked up my pace as I ran off the pathway, running into the woods. It would be more difficult for them to find me here and I would be able to escape too
The air was thick with the smell of damp soil and branches whipped against my skin as I ran.
But I didn’t stop or slow down.
Whoever thought it would be a great idea to plant so many trees on personal property?
My legs ached as Iran, but I didn’t stop. The sound of twigs snapping under my foot, mixed with the rustling of leaves and the distant shouts coming behind me.
I couldn’t afford to stop.
I’ve tried running away from home before, but gather caught me almost immediately.
I can’t relive the torture I went through that day, so I better not get caught
Putting the small knife I stole at the dinner table into my pocket, pushed myself further.
I had no idea where I was running to. I didn’t know if I was going the right way or if there was a dead end. I just listened to the voice in my head telling me to keep going.
I could feel stone dig into my bare feet and I gritted my teeth in pain.
Running without shoes was not the best option, but I didn’t own any that I could wear.
I’ve been indoors since I got here, and Silas didn’t think it was wise to provide me with suitable shoes.
But then again, he didn’t really think I was going to run away,
The voices behind me were getting louder and it was as if they knew exactly where I was and kept following me.
It felt like a game of cat and mouse and right now, I was the mouse.
“Don’t think you can run from me,
little one. I heard Silas’ voice echo from what seemed to be speakers, and I halted.
Where did that come from?
My eyes darted around the trees desperately, searching for any source of sound. It was dark, but I strained my eyes to see.
A light gasp escaped my lips and I took a step back in shock.
There was a tiny camera and speaker on a tree. I turned only just to find an exact replica of it on another tree.
You wouldn’t find it unless you knew what you were searching for
He could see me but I couldn’t see him. He knew exactly where I was and yet he hadn’t caught me.

Chapter 7
The realization that I never had the chance to escape hit me, and my heart sank.
It was like he was toying with the.
Turning to the camera, I raised my middle finger with a glare.
I was tired of everyone playing with me like I was some kind of chess piece. At least a pawn is useful in chess.
I wasn’t useful to anything for them.
“You should know by now that there’s no escape from here, Silas said from behind me and my back stiffened. When did he get here? I didn’t even hear him. My heart raced in my chest, my eyes shaking.
Slowly, I turned around to come face to face with him, my body trembling slightly.
CH
Wondering if he could hear my fast-beating heart, Tried to stop my trembling fingers, clenching my hand tightly.
I couldn’t help the gasp that escaped my lips when our eyes connected.
The moon rays fell on him, illuminating his figure. His hair was let down, falling to his shoulders in loose waves.
I wonder what it would feel like to run my fingers through it.
I couldn’t help the thought that came to mind,
Realizing what I was thinking about, I shook my head to clear the thoughts, taking a step back.
“Go ahead and run. I’d still find you, I felt chills run down my spine, Silas’s cold eyes on me, waiting for my next move.
He stared at me, daring me to move. I could escape from him, but I never had the chance to.
And besides. I was legally married to him. The only thing that could do was die.
A thought came to mind and my lips pulled into a small smile. Fightened my grip on the knife handle, hiding it behind me.
I only had one chance, and if I missed it I would be dead.”
Swiftly, I lunged at Silas, pressing the neck into his neck.
If I ran just like he asked me to, I would only be providing entertainment for him and his men.
I didn’t want to be the source of their sick entertainment.
Silas stared down at me boredly, a brow coming up. His arms lay limply by his sides and he didn’t even bother to stop me.
If he wanted, he could have grabbed my hands when I lunged at him. But he didn’t.
Why?
“Careful, or you’ll cut yourself, He sounded as if he was talking to a child, and it got me infuriated.
Silas’s face held no emotions, his blank face staring at me like I didn’t have a knife in
my hands.
He paid little importance to the small knife and stared at me like I held little significance.
Am act that fueled my anger even more.
Pressing the knife down on his neck, I smiled when it drew blood and I raised my eyes to meet his own.
