Chapter 1371
Lysander was the prodigy of the Sinclair family, a man who had been groomed personally by Zephyr from an early age to lead the esteemed family. Once, he was sharp, sagacious, and ruled with an iron fist, never second-guessing himself over trivial matters, let alone allowing someone to cloud his judgment.
But ever since he met Thalassa, he found himself breaking his own rules, showing her leniency, and losing his composure around her and now, it seemed he was even willing to
risk his own life.
On the way to the hospital, Zephyr had already had his people dig up the details: someone had bombed Thalassa’s family villa, causing the structure to collapse, and it was while shielding Thalassa that Lysander had been buried beneath the rubble and gravely injured.
Had it not been for his attempt to save Thalassa, Lysander-always quick on his feet-could have easily escaped the collapsing building unscathed.
But for Thalassa’s sake, he had sustained serious injuries.
Zephyr was beside himself with grief, his worry and pain suppressed into smoldering
anger.
“Losing too much blood… the doctors are doing everything they can to transfuse…” Thalassa’s voice trembled as she responded to Zephyr’s stern and piercing interrogation,
her face ashen.
She, too, wanted to know Lysander’s condition, but she was in the dark, left only to wait.
“Doing everything they can?” Those words clamped around Zephyr’s heart with the weight of despair. He felt drained of strength, staggering backward, his body no longer able to support itself.
Thalassa reached out to help, but…
“Zephyr…” David was quicker, catching Zephyr from behind.
Thalassa’s outstretched hand clenched the air before falling limply to her side.
Zephyr’s breaths became labored, almost too much to bear. Lysander had been in the military for years, and even when he had been ambushed five years ago, he hadn’t sustained such grievous injuries.
Yet now, for a woman, he was on the brink of death.
Seeing Zephyr’s agony, Thalassa’s heart ached, but what could she say? Any attempt at comfort seemed futile, given the gravity of the situation.
At the height of their sorrow, the door to the ER opened.
The doctor emerged, his mask concealing his expression, but his forehead glistened with

sweat.
Upon hearing the sound of the emergency room door, Thalassa’s nerves tensed, her eyes darting toward the doctor.
She moved to approach him, but Zephyr straightened up and hurried over; the man who once stood tall and unyielding was now hunched and tremulous like an old willow in the
wind.
“Doc, how is he?” Zephyr’s voice was strained, the tremble in his words betraying his
concern.
The doctor’s gaze was urgent and sorrowful as he addressed Zephyr. “The patient took a hit to the head from a falling brick. We’ve managed to stop the bleeding, but the head trauma is severe. Our medical facilities here are limited-we urgently need to transfer him to a better-equipped hospital, and time is of the essence. Any delay could be… fatal.”
“What?” Zephyr swayed, nearly collapsing from the blow.
David steadied Zephyr, the doctor’s words sapping his strength as well, barely managing to keep Zephyr from falling.
He had thought Lysander was just seriously injured, but the reality was far more dire, teetering on the edge of life and death.
Thalassa’s eyes widened, her body shook, and her legs gave way beneath her, nearly collapsing like a rag doll.
“Careful!” Richard, quick to react, caught her faltering figure.
As he held her, Richard’s hands were smeared with the blood from her body, a sticky reminder that made his heart skip a beat.
With concern lacing his voice, he said, “Ms. Everhart, are you alright?”
