Chapter 692
“What? Ms. Linda didn’t invite Dr. Shadow?”
“Really? Even if the Killian family disapproves of her relationship with Mr. Bernard, didn’t she develop them a chip under the name Raven? Why didn’t they invite her?”
“Hasn’t Dr. Shadow treated many members of the Killian family? They’re a bit too harsh.”
“Ms. Linda is so petty.”
“She’s not just petty but also insensible.”
Their murmurs grew louder and louder, and the security guard was stunned as he didn’t know Hera was such an influential figure.
Linda walked from the monitor room to the floor-to-ceiling window. When she noticed that the quests wouldn’t enter unless Hera would, she closed her eyes in anger.
She had dug her own grave for underestimating Hera’s influence. Who would’ve known that Hera would be able to expand her connections among the big names in just over six months in Jedburgh?
It was no wonder that Hera reacted so calmly and claimed that she wouldn’t enter earlier on. She had been waiting for this!
Judging from the current situation, Linda knew that Hera was trying to coerce her into giving in first.
If Linda didn’t give in, Hera wouldn’t join the banquet and Linda’s plan would be ruined!
Now that she was outwitted, Linda gritted her teeth in frustration.
“Let her in,” she instructed through the walkie-talkie.
The security guard was at a complete loss upon receiving the new order. How was he supposed to invite back the guest whom he had just turned away?
Still, he bit the bullet and approached Hera. “Ms. Youngworth, I’m so sorry. I made a mistake earlier back there. You’re allowed to go in.”
She spared him an indifferent glance. “I don’t want to go in anymore.”
“What do you take her for? Someone you can let in and keep out at will? We’re not going in!” Thiago huffed.
“Exactly! We’re not going in. Even if this means turning against the whole world or starving outside here, we’ll never step into the banquet hall!” Nicholas joined.
Hera was speechless at the unnecessary response.
Nicholas added, “Call out the person who ordered you to do so. Unless they personally invite us in, we won’t consider going in.”
The security guard and others fell into silence.
Linda, who heard the conversation through the walkie-talkie, clenched her jaw.
At that moment, Neil came up to her. “Ms. Linda, Mr. Killian Senior says that it won’t be good to keep this up. It’s affecting the family’s reputation. If you don’t wish to continue the banquet, please cancel it immediately.”
She gripped the walkie-talkie furiously. Although her knuckles turned white, her voice remained calm. “I’ll deal with it right now.”
As soon as Neil left, Priscilla, who was standing at the side, piped up, “A lowly girl like her doesn’t deserve to have you welcome her personally, though.”
She thought that Linda would have a way to get back at Hera, yet Linda had come up with such a childish plan.
Linda agreed to that and was equally annoyed. She was Rhett’s wife and belonged to one of the four most influential families!
Why should she personally welcome a country bumpkin like Hera?
Despite that, she didn’t want to lose her cool in front of Priscilla. That would turn her into a joke.
“Small sacrifices are sometimes necessary for the greater plan.” Linda feigned composure and turned around. Suppressing her fury, she went downstairs to personally welcome Hera.
