Terrence was stirring a cup of coffee in a cafe. He had been waiting there for a long time. When he finally saw Yvette, he immediately stood up and forced out a smile. “Have a seat, Yvyy.”

She ignored his kind gestures. “The security guard told me you were looking for me. What do you want?”

“Mom was diagnosed with late-stage cancer,” Terrence slowly told her while keeping his gaze on her.

Yvette was stunned and in disbelief. “What did you say?”

“The police called me yesterday and told me that she suddenly fainted in the detention center. They took her to the hospital and found out she has brain cancer, and it’s in the final stage now,” he said again. Seeing how serious he looked, Yvette scoffed. “So, do you expect me to forgive her?”

Yara had always lived in a great environment. Yvette thought there was no way she would have any cancer at all.

Viola hadn’t had any family, and Yvette had been like a daughter to her. If Yvette really went easy on Yara, the latter would have a lighter sentence. Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the ƒindNoᴠᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Terrence glared at her resentfully. “Have a heart, Yvette. She’s our mother. Are you really going to watch her die? She already told me how the nanny killed herself.”

Yvette coldly said, “What do you mean by that? Yara was the one who killed my mom.”

“Who are you calling your mom? She’s just a nanny and dirty trash-” Before he could finish his words, Yvette slapped him. He looked at her in disbelief. “Did you just slap me for a nanny?”

“Viola is not just a nanny to me. She’s better than my actual mother, so please watch your mouth!”

Terrence’s face stung, but he couldn’t insult her at all when she fiercely glared at him. He didn’t know why he was actually afraid of her.

“Fine. Let’s not talk about her and continue talking about our actual mom. No matter how many mistakes she’s made, you shouldn’t have sent her to jail, alright?”

When Yvette heard that, she smiled bitterly. “Did do that? Viola and I only wanted to have a peaceful life She was the one who kept pestering us. She was the one who wouldn’t let us go! If I had a choice, I’d rather not have been born at all. I’d rather die than be her daughter!

“Tell her that there’s no point in pretending to be sick. Even if she really has cancer, there’s no way I’ll let her get away that easily!”

After saying that, she left the cafe. The wind blew coldly outside. However, she felt nothing at all.

Terrence walked out of the cafe and anxiously watched her leave from behind. He grabbed his phone and called Yara, who was currently at the hospital.

“Mom, Yvette doesn’t believe you’re sick at all. I think she’ll never let you off if she finds out that you’ve faked your illness to get bail.”

Yara was getting a massage in a luxurious ward at that moment. When she heard what Terrence said, she frowned. “What an ungrateful daughter. Does she really wish for me to die?”

According to the law, every criminal

had the right to survive. That was why a cancer patient could apply for bail to get treatment outside. Yara had taken advantage of the loophole and gotten someone to fake her illness. However, it would be hard for her to get out again if her plans were exposed.

“Mom, Yvette has always been soft-hearted, and I think she’s just saying that out of stubbornness. If you could show a weaker side of yourself, I’m sure she won’t keep putting you on the spot.”

He remembered how he’d been afraid of James punishing him when he’d done something wrong in the past. He’d only had to beg once, and Yvette had gotten punished in his place instead. Another time, he’d given Yvette the clothes Yara didn’t want, and she’d been overjoyed for a long time because of that.

“Just coax her and buy her a little gift. I’m sure she’ll do something to make your sentence lighter.”
