Noah thought about a lot of things that night.
After Yvette fell asleep, he hugged her arm and murmured, “Mom, I want you to be happy. I’ll accept him if he loves you. But if he’s still deceiving you, I’ll kill him.” Yvette had no idea about Noah’s thoughts. If she had known, she would have talked to him and tried to correct his thoughts.
Noah’s bones ached again, so he quietly got up, kissed Yvette’s forehead, and then went to sleep.
…
With the New Year approaching, Yvette finished handling work at home and prepared to choose clothes and shoes for her two children and Viola.
Since Noah and Viola were not in good health and couldn’t shop for long periods, Yvette measured their sizes and planned to buy clothes for them later. Xavier stayed home from work today. Seeing Yvette busy, he offered, “Shall I go with you?”
“It’s inconvenient because you can’t see. I’ve already called Ray to drive and help me carry things,” Yvette replied.
Since Ray was Yvette’s personal bodyguard, he usually accompanied her.
Although Xavier couldn’t see, his memory had returned, and he remembered Ray’s appearance. To be honest, Ray wasn’t bad-looking.
Despite feeling slightly upset, Xavier didn’t dare let his unhappiness show.
“Are you leaving now?” Xavier asked again.
“Yes.” Yvette looked at him curiously. “What’s wrong?”
“I’ll have Mark send you my sizes later.” Xavier forced himself to say these words. This meant he wanted Yvette to buy clothes for him as well.
In fact, even without his size details, Yvette remembered it. Before they had gotten married, Yvette had secretly measured his height and size and bought him a bunch of clothes.
She remembered every detail, whether it was his birthday or other occasions, and even after many years, whenever she thought about it, his information would come to mind unconsciously. However, Xavier hadn’t cared, no matter how well she’d treated him back then. The clothes she’d bought had either been thrown in the trash or burned.
When Yvette fell silent, Xavier spoke up again. “Since I can’t see, could you help me pick out a couple of outfits?” Worried that Yvette would refuse he added, “If it’s too much trouble, it’s fine. I still have old clothes.”
Noah, watching his bastard father in a pitiful state, thought he was being sneaky.
Yvette, being soft-hearted, couldn’t refuse considering Xavier’s current condition-amnesiac, blind, and fallen from grace. She nodded in agreement. “Don’t complain if you don’t like what I choose.”
Xavier’s attractive lips curved into a slight smile. “I’ll never complain.”
Yvette didn’t believe his empty words. After all, he never liked what she picked for him before.
After bidding farewell to Noah and Viola, Yvette went out with Ray.
As Ray drove, Yvette couldn’t help but ask, “Ray, has Claude been in touch with you recently?”
A few days ago, after her call to Claude had gone unanswered, Yvette felt worried and feared
something had happened to himmet
Claude had many enemies abroad, some of whom were even his own brothers.
“No. Is there something you need from him?” Ray asked.
Yvette shook her head. “No, I just haven’t been able to reach him for a long time. I’m worried something might have happened to him.”
Claude had frequently been injured while abroad. Once, he even had a fainting spell.
Ray narrowed his eyes at her words. “Do you need me to look into it?”
“Yes, please.”
Yvette felt a bit more at ease hearing that Ray could look into things. For some reason, she had a premonition that something had happened to Claude.
Ray hadn’t paid much attention to
Claude before. However, when he
heard Yvette’s concerns now, he suddenly remembered that someone had tried to bribe him to leave Yvette some time ago.
He wasn’t sure whether to tell Yvette about it.
