Yvette felt really uncomfortable in the car. The doctor had told her that she’d be fine if she had a few drinks, but she felt more uncomfortable than usual that day. She was hot and tired. “Where are we going, Xavier? I think I’m getting car sick.”
“Just lean against me and sleep for a while. You’ll feel better after that,” Xavier gently coaxed her.
She leaned on his shoulder and shut her eyes. They were so close to each other that he could smell the faint fragrance on her body. He gulped slightly and held back his urges.
Finally, they arrived at the hospital. Xavier carried her into a private lounge, where the doctor examined Yvette.
After about an hour, they found out that the wine hadn’t been spiked with anything that was harmful to her body. She would be fine once the effects were over.
Tristan rushed to the ward and asked, “What happened, Xav?”
At that moment, Yvette was in a deep sleep. Xavier signaled for him to keep quiet, and they went out of the ward.
“Why is Yvette in the hospital, Xav?”
“She just consumed something she shouldn’t have. It shouldn’t be a problem now.”
Xavier had been too worried at first, so he’d asked Tristan to come over. After all, he couldn’t see anything. What had happened that day made him more frustrated about the fact that he’d lost his sight. If he’d been able to see, then none of it would’ve happened.
“I’m glad to hear that.” Tristan could finally relax a little. Yvette had saved him before, and he couldn’t let anything else happen to her before he repaid her. Tristan wanted to wait for her to wake up with Xavier. However, Xavier kicked him out after a short while. So, he had no choice but to leave the ward. Then, Xavier took Yvette home. She slowly opened her eyes around midnight. Now that she had finally sobered up a little, she looked around the room.
As she moved a little, she suddenly touched something warm. She pinched it in confusion, only to find that it felt hard.
She turned around and met Xavier’s cold face. Then, she realized that she’d pinched his arm earlier. She hurriedly let go of his arm and got up.
When he noticed she’d woken up, he asked with a hoarse voice, “Do you still feel tired?”
Yvette blushed and said, “No. I was probably feeling tired because we were in the car for too long.”
When Xavier heard her explanation, he didn’t expose the truth. “Yeah. Remember not to just eat everything you’re given in the future.”
Since he couldn’t see anything, he wouldn’t know what she was doing sometimes.
“Sure.” It didn’t even occur to Yvette that her drink might’ve been spiked.
She’d even asked the maid about the wine she drank that day. She’d been told that the wine didn’t have that much alcohol in it and that it was suitable for pregnant women to drink.
“Alright. Let’s continue sleeping.” The sun wasn’t going to rise for another few hours.
Yvette looked inside the room and saw only the bed in there-the couch was gone. She knew who’d removed it from the room right away.
Fortunately, the bed was hugel.ne
she could sleep on the edge of the bed without any issues at all.
“Yeah.”
She curled up on the edge of the bed and fell into deep sleep again.
The next day, she woke up because of the noisy alarm. When she opened her eyes, she noticed that she was in Xavier’s arms again.
It was already bright outside. Since
she had to help Jeremiah prepare for the engagement dinner, she didn’t want to ask about it. Instead, she tidied the room as fast as she could.
There were a lot of traditions when it came to engagements in Tirion, and there were a lot of things that had to be prepared by hand.
Although Yvette didn’t like the Lane family that much, she wanted to help with the preparations because Jeremiah was nice to her.
Xavier had been up for a while. He noticed Yvette carefully get up and didn’t want to make her feel awkward. So, he only got up after she’d gone downstairs.
As Yvette reached downstairs, she saw Zoey approaching her. The latter asked, “I forgot to ask you something last night. Are you my younger sister or my sister-in-law now?”
