Settling all past matters between the two?
Xavier took the document, carefully flipping through each page that clearly indicated an end to any relationship between them. When he finally reached the compensation amount—a staggering eight billion dollars!
Where had she gotten so much money from?
Xavier had already investigated Yvette’s company; its liquid assets totaled only a few billion dollars at most. Even if the company were sold, it wouldn’t come close to this amount.
Xavier merely scoffed as he tossed the document straight into the trash.
“What makes you think I would sign it?”
“My client said if you’re unwilling to sign, it shows you don’t care about the money. Still, all past matters will be settled,” Matthew replied calmly before he lowered his voice.
“I hope you don’t use this as an excuse to guilt-trip Yvette again. Remember-it’s not that she didn’t return the money; you’re the one who’s refusing this.”
Matthew, who had been with Yvette since she was a child, had long felt the need to speak out on her behalf.
He had expected to be thrown out, but Xavier surprised him by simply stating, “Rest assured. I won’t bring this up again.”
Matthew was somewhat stunned.
Xavier, however, was completely clear-headed, fully aware of how resolute Yvette was. She would rather offer an astronomical sum than have any further entanglement with him. After Matthew left, Xavier asked Mark, “What would you do if someone who liked you had a change of heart?”
Mark immediately thought of his girlfriend. “If she fell for another man, I’d make her regret it.”
Right! Regret!
Xavier massaged his nose bridge. “Let’s go to the airport.”
He wanted to see Yvette!
Knowing he couldn’t dissuade him, Mark followed without further comment.
Back at Mayest’s port, Kiki was ready to leave after resting for a day.
Yvette took her to the airport by herself. After waving goodbye, she was on her way back when she received a call from Claude.
“Yvvy, you need to move again. Xavier is coming.”
Yvette stood still, stunned. She had thought that it would take Xavier months, if not longer, to find her. She

“Claude, can you take Viola and the kids away first?”
Claude was puzzled. “You’re not leaving?”
“I don’t want to keep running.” As Yvette stood facing the sea breeze, her voice was tinged with weariness. “This world is only so big. As long as Xavier doesn’t give up, he’ll still find us someday.”
During the years abroad, Xavier had never stopped searching for her. Every time he was close, they had to move again. It was exhausting.
“I want to make it clear to him that he and I are over,” Yvette said.
Claude was silent for a moment. “I’ll be right over. If he dares to force you, I’ll make him disappear!”
Claude hung up before Yvette could respond.
They weren’t in Tirion, where Xavier could have his way.
An hour later, Viola and the two kids were ready to leave. Noah and Zachary, accustomed to moving from one country to another, didn’t ask why.
Viola’s deteriorating health, however, made Yvette worry about how much longer Viola could put up with this lifestyle.
Yvette hugged her tightly. “Viola, it must be tough on you.”
“Silly Yvvy, I’m old, but nothing’s tough because I get to be with you all,” Viola replied with a warm smile before getting into the car.
As Yvette watched them leave, the home she had just settled into for a few days felt particularly cold and empty.
When night fell, Yvette wrapped herself in a blanket and sat on the couch.
Suddenly, there was a loud sound as

the door was kicked open from outside. Looking up, she saw Xavier standing at the entrance with a group of bodyguards.
