Chapter 46
When she heard Alyssa compliment her, Celine’s smile widened her eyes crinkling with delight. “Andrew, did you hear that? Alyssa just praised me.”
“She’s just being polite,” Andrew replied bluntly, not sparing his mother’s feelings.
Celine shot him a glare before turning back to Alyssa with a warm smile. “You weren’t just being polite, right, Alyssa?”
Alyssa smiled back and said, “I’m not really one for politeness. Isually just say what I think.”
“Did you hear that?” Celine said to Andrew triumphantly, “You jerk. I was once the most beautiful woman in Northville.”
“Yes, Miss Beauty, you’re the most stunning,” Andrew flattered.
“Of course,” Celine responded, clearly pleased.
After a brief pause, Celine asked, “Why are you two still up so late? And why aren’t you in your pajamas yet, Alyssa?”

Alyssa didn’t know how to respond, so she turned to look at Andrew.
Andrew smiled at the video and said, “We’ve got a lively nightlife. Why go to bed so early?”
Celine was momentarily stunned before laughing and scolding. Alyssa looks like such a good lady. Don’t you dare corrupt her. Go to bed early.”
“Got it,” Andrew replied. “And you all should stop staying up late too. You’re not getting any younger and need to start taking care of your health.”
“Yes, we all need to take care of our health. You two should take care too.” Celine laughed even more heartily.
Andrew’s expression darkened. “Mom, we just got married. Don’t scare my wife.”
“Oh, so now you know how to care for someone,” Celine teased from the other end of the video call.
“Of course,” Andrew said proudly, mimicking the same expression Celine had when she said it earlier. They really were mother and son.
Listening to the conversation between them, Alyssa felt a warmth in her heart. She thought, ‘Such a family atmosphere is truly wonderful.

Alyssa tilted her head up to look at Andrew, and in that moment, he seemed like a spoiled child who’d been doted on by his mother, rebellious, yet straightforward and genuine. It was actually kind of endearing.
On the other end of the video call, Celine saw Alyssa gazing up at her son with such affection. She immediately got excited and quickly took a screenshot of the scene, carefully saving it on her phone.
Suddenly, another voice, weaker and lower, came through the call, “Andrew is married? Let me see the lady.”
Andrew’s mouth twitched, and he quickly said to his mom, “Mom, it’s getting late. I have to go. Alyssa needs to have a beauty sleep. We’ll chat again later.”
“But your grandma still wants to see…”
A beeping sound was heard.
Before Celine could finish, Andrew had already ended the call.
Chapter 46
He removed his hand from Alyssa’s shoulder and remarked, “Your acting was terrible. You need more practice.
Alyssa rolled her eyes. She couldn’t believe she had actually found this sharp–tongued guy attractive just a moment ago.
“I’m not an actress, so of course I can’t act. If you want, why dont you hire a professional?” Alyssa retorted.
“Is it really appropriate to change my wife now?” Andrew raised an eyebrow.
Alyssa snorted and ignored him.
He added, “Don’t be late for work tomorrow.”
Alyssa huffed angrily, “If I’m late, are you going to dock my pay?
“Of course I will. Don’t think just because we’re married you can slack off at work,” Andrew said, walking away with his phone in hand.
Alyssa, fuming, shook her fist at his retreating back.
As he walked away, Andrew sent a voice message on WhatsApp: (Mom, tell Grandma to take good care of herself. Once she’s better, I’ll bring Alyssa to see her. But if she doesn’t take care of herself, she won’t get to see Alyssa.]
