1 Chapter 1

“I DIDN’T DO IT!”

Her scream echoed inside the basement of the pack house, the lamp on the ceiling flickered, giving you a silhouette of a battered young woman, who was panting on the ground. Her body was very weak, but her eyes was ablaze with hatred and

anger.

“LIAR!”

A man’s voice boomed, filled the room with the intensity that not everyone could handle, but the young woman was stubborn enough not to lower her head, while the men around them had this chill down their spines to hear their alpha’s

rage.

A man in brown hair stood up from his chair and approached the woman on the ground. His chiseled jaw tightened to see the woman’s sorry state, but he hardened his determination. It pained his heart to see her like this, but he couldn’t let her off easily after she tr**led his heart and dignity lightly.

“Cielle, I ask you one more time. Why did you cheat on me?” His voice was hard, he gritted his teeth when he spoke. The habit that Kenan had whenever he was very upset. Cielle hated it when she remembered this little detail about him.

She wanted to hate him with all of her heart, but she couldn’t do it when the mate bond between them was still so strong. He was her mate, her other half, the least person that she expected would hurt her.

“I didn’t cheat on you!” Cielle hissed, she glared at Kenan menacingly.

“Liar!” Kenan slapped her so hard across her face, his hand stung from the force, but his pain was nothing compared to what Cielle was going through right now.

Silver bracelets wrapped around her wrists, which prevented her from shifting into her beast, but it also meant, she couldn’t heal, therefore she couldn’t use her healing ability as a shifter, with that, the bruises and the wounds that was inflicted on her since two weeks ago still had not yet healed.

The sight of it bothered Kenan, but he couldn’t bring himself to stop hurting her, because he was so hurt with her betrayal

He was in so

much pain, so it was only right that she had to be on the same level of pain like him.

However, Kenan didn’t have any idea how deep he had hurt his own mate.

“You are an embarrassment! You don’t suit to be a luna of the pack!” Kenan hollered. “At the very least you could do is being honest with me!”

If only Cielle admitted what she had done and showed remorse, he would stop this torture, because he was in anguish, every time he saw her wounds. His wolf howled for him to stop hurting their mate, but his dignity was so hurt, he didn’t want her to be comfortable.

“Reject me or kill me, choose whatever you want to do with me, but I will never admit something that I didn’t do.”

Once again, Cielle said the same thing, she glared at him with determination in her eyes, which made Kenan faltered. He wanted to believe her, but the evidence was right before his eyes

That was a hard proof that he couldn’t deny. The only thing that he regretted was the fact he had killed the man Cielle was with that night in the fit of his rage.

Kenan scooped Cielle’s battered body and hugged her tightly. “I want to believe you, Cielle. But, I can’t. I saw you with him.” He couldn’t endure this pain any longer. “You betrayed me.”

“I will never betray you, Kenan. Someone set me up…” Tears streamed down Cielle cheeks. Her heart ached, she couldn’t

prove her innocent and this hug from Kenan was suffocating. He still didn’t believe her. No matter what she said, he couldn’t

believe her.

Cielle had explained this over and over again, but he still didn’t believe a word she said. Her arms were in so much pain, the silver bracelet bit her skin, she didn’t have the strength to hug him back.

Right at that time, someone opened the door and a shriek could be heard. Cielle immediately knew who it was.

“What are you doing, Kenan?! Stay away from her!” Meda immediately marched forward and separated her son from his mate. “She betrayed you! She let another man to touch her! Don’t let her crocodile tears muddled your head!”

Meda looked beautiful like usual. She was wearing black jeans and a simple green shirt, while behind her was a beautiful young woman with black eyes, as black as charcoal. She stared at Cielle with annoyance in her eyes.

Ensley.

Cielle believed it was her, who had set her up, but she didn’t have any proof for her accusation, neither she could find one with her current situation.

“Don’t touch this wh**e!” Meda chided Kenan, she separated them both and gave a dagger look at Cielle, as if she was the one, who had hugged her precious son.

“What are you doing here, mother?” Kenan asked in cold voice, his eyes softened when he saw Ensley came forward. “Bring my mother back, Ensley.”

“I have asked her not to come, but your mother insisted. She said this is something important,” Ensley replied, she appeared as a demure young woman, delicate and kind.

And before Kenan could ask them to leave again, Meda had cut him off. “Here, give her this.” She handed a small bottle into her son’s hand.

“What is this?” Kenan raised the bottle and narrowed his eyes at the dark liquid inside, it looked ominous.

“It’s a poison,” Meda said solemnly. “No. It will not kill her,” she said hurriedly when her son was about to reject it. “But, it will cause so much pain on her, she will not be able to lie to you. Even the strongest warrior will not be able to stand the pain for more than five minutes.”

“Don’t worry, Kenan. We have an antidote for that. Once she confessed, we will give the antidote,” Ensley reassured him.
