Chapter 10 – Two Worlds Colliding
Isabel’s POV
I didn’t expect to meet Robert here. He told me that his family had recently started a commercial cooperation with Andrew Williams, so he received an invitation. It felt surreal to bump into him again. But ‘our friendly atmosphere was soon broken by Emerson.
Seeing Emerson’s fierce expression, Robert whispered, “Do you need help, Isabel?” I appreciated his kindness but didn’t want him to get involved in our conflicts.
“Don’t worry, Robert. This is not your battle to fight,” I responded.

Emerson paced over to us, his posture tense and menacing. He looked very handsome in his tailored suit. His sapphire blue tie matched the color of my dress perfectly. In the past, we would have laughed together about the coincidence, a private joke between us. But not today. His blue eyes were filled with nothing but rage.
“Who is he?” Emerson demanded, his voice icy.
I tried to explain, but Robert was faster. He introduced himself with a calm confidence that only seemed to infuriate Emerson more.
“I’m Robert Evans, the representative of MedTech Innovations. I received an invitation from your father, Andrew Williams himself,” Robert said with a friendly smile. Though his eyes were alert and fixated on Emerson. I was grateful for Robert’s calm, protective

nature.

Emerson pulled me into his arms. “It appears you’ve met my wife?” he said fiercely. He said fiercely, his grip on me tightening.
I was surprised by his actions. Why was he so jealous? Although I was confused and angry, I couldn’t help but soften into Emerson’s embrace. His strong arms felt comfortingly familiar. My heart

fluttered. He hadn’t touched me for so long. I had to admit, I still had feelings for him. But he was with Lilith now. His heart was no longer mine.

To avoid potential conflicts, I tried to change the topic. “Such a lovely party, isn’t it? The appetizers are phenomenal. Don’t you think, Robert?” I asked with an innocent smile.
However, Emerson suddenly recognized that Robert was the man who had saved me before. I could feel his growing anger. His muscles tensed and his grip on me tightened.
“Honey, I hope you don’t forget who your husband is. How dare your flirt with another man in front of me? At my family’s banquet?
Please, don’t embarrass me.” Emerson said.
There was no trace of warmth in his eyes. Noticing I was in a vulnerable position, Robert wanted to defend me.

“Listen, Emerson. She was robbed and then fainted in the middle of the road. If you were a decent husband, how could you leave your wife alone, out there in the storm?” Robert stepped forward, his
voice firm and steady.
Emerson ignored Robert’s heckling. “I’m warning you, Robert. Stay away from my wife!” He said angrily.
Then, without waiting for a response, Emerson pulled me away, taking me into an empty storage room. My heart pounded and my breath quickened. We stood close together in the tight, dimly lit
space.

I looked up at the handsome man who was once the love of my life. no was once the love of my life. In his dreamy blue eyes, I detected only anger and frustration. What would he do now? He grabbed me by the shoulders, shaking me slightly.
“Is that true, Isabel? Did you faint? Then why did you lie to me? Did

you fall in love with your savior?!” he asked with urgency.

“What is going on with you, Emerson? Don’t slander me! It’s you who betrayed our marriage!” I argued, my voice shaking with a blend of anger and hurt.
He retorted, “If it wasn’t for your father’s tricks, I would never even have married you!”
His words cut through me like a knife. What was he talking about? My father’s tricks? I was at a loss.
“What do you mean, Emerson? What tricks? I need to know the
reason why you hate my father so much,” I demanded. But before he could answer, there was an urgent knock at the door.

“Mr. Williams, are you in there?” a maid called from outside.
“What’s wrong?” Emerson snapped, clearly annoyed at the interruption.
“Your son has a fever! Ms. Lilith is looking for you!” the maid explained.
Emerson’s expression changed immediately. The anger in his eyes. shifted to concern as he turned away from me. Without another word, he left the room.
He left me standing there, stunned and heartbroken, the weight of our unresolved conflict pressing down on me like a suffocating blanket.
