Chapter 187
The bedroom was filled with James‘ belongings from when he had still been alive.

One of the items was a portrait of Yvette that he had painted. After he had passed away, Yara and Terrence had failed to manage the company well.
In the end, they’d had no choice but to put every valuable item in the house up for auction.
When Yvette had returned to the country, she had tried her best to find everything James had left behind, especially this portrait.
She had been less than 20 years old in the portrait, sitting on a balcony in her white dress. She was smiling while holding a large bouquet.
Yvette slowly walked to the portrait. When she saw it, she immediately thought of James. When he had been painting the portrait, he had looked so kind.
She reached out and gently touched the portrait. She could barely get the words out of her mouth. “I thought I would never see this portrait again.”
James had painted it for her, and it was priceless. She had never expected that Xavier would be able to
find it.
When Xavier saw her reaction, he knew that it was the perfect gift. He slowly approached her. “You can bring everything back to Dewberry Manor.”
He only wanted her to bring them back to the manor instead of taking them away. He was doing everything he could so that she wouldn’t be willing to leave!
Yvette calmed down and turned to look at him with a grateful gaze. “Thank you.”
“Don’t throw a tantrum in the future anymore. I’ll give you whatever you want,” he said.
When she heard that, her gaze darkened a little, and she nodded slightly.
Then, Xavier took out a black card and gave it to her. “Use it however you want.”
After Yvette had married him, he had always told Mark to give her allowances. However, she had never used a single penny he had given her. Xavier had only found out about it after she had left.
Yvette looked at the card in front of her; she didn’t look happy. Instead, she shook her head. “There’s no need for that. I have my own money.”
Xavier’s hand stiffly froze in mid–air. After staying quiet for a moment, he explained, “Aren’t we husband and wife now? This is my payroll card.” He didn’t know if this was what he should be doing as a husband.
She had no choice but to accept it. Regardless, they would have nothing to do with each other after one month had passed.
After Yvette promised to be Xavier’s wife for a month, she realized that he had become another person. He wanted to hug her, kiss her, and hold her hand every day. It felt like their marriage was real, like it wasn’t just in name.
After they stayed in Sangine County for three days, they returned to Tirion together.

Xavier drove her to the riverside at 8:00 pm to look at the fireworks. When the clock struck 8:00 pm, the show began on time.
They were surrounded by people everywhere. When Yvette and Xavier stood together, they looked out of the ordinary. At that moment, anyone would think that they were husband and wife.
As Yvette looked at the fireworks in the sky, she had the urge to tell Xavier the truth. She wanted to tell him that Noah was his son. However, before she could say anything, he received a call from Daphne.
Yvette didn’t know what Daphne had said to him, but he was in a hurry to leave. She couldn’t help but stop him. “Didn’t you say that no one would interrupt us these few days?”
“We’ll talk when I get back,” he said.
However, she grabbed his sleeve. “Think about this carefully. If you leave now, I won’t keep my word anymore.” She wouldn’t keep her promise to be his wife for a month.
Xavier slowly took her hand off of him. “Something has happened to Daphne, and the doctors are trying to save her in the ICU now. I’ll get someone to take you home.”
After saying that, he got in the car and left. Yvette was left standing there alone.
As she watched him drive off, she didn’t feel sad at all. Instead, she thought she had been a fool for thinking that he had changed. She had almost told him about Noah.
Fortunately, she hadn’t done it.
