Chapter 165
“Are you concerned about who’s been mistreating me, worried if I’ve been wrong, or… do you care about me?” Millie’s voice trailed off, her last words barely audible. It was as if the wind had swept them away.
Winston fell silent for a moment.
Millie smiled wryly. She knew that asking that would only hurt herself. So, she calmly gave herself an out. “I get it, Mr. Greer. You’re just looking out for me as an ex- husband.”
The elevator doors opened. After stepping in, Millie looked at Winston standing outside and realized she couldn’t cross the boundary anymore. Their relationship could only end here.
“Mr. Greer, are you coming?” she asked with a polite smile, as if she were speaking to
a stranger.
In fact, Winston’s dinner wasn’t over yet. He glanced at his watch. Seeing that it was almost time, he believed Eli could handle the rest..
But when Millie saw him checking the time, she assumed he wasn’t coming. Hence, she pressed the button to close the door.
Just as they were about to close, Winston blocked them. He walked in and said casually, “I’ll give you a ride home.”
Millie raised an eyebrow. Once he was inside the elevator, she pressed the close door button again before replying, “I can go home by myself.”
“I’m heading that way anyway.”
Millie didn’t respond.
As the elevator descended, neither of them spoke. When the doors opened, they walked out together.
However, as they neared the restaurant’s entrance, they ran into Joanna. She approached Winston with a bright smile. Winston, on the other hand, couldn’t help but wonder how she ended up there.
Joanna wrapped her arms around his waist. She glanced at Millle, then directed her gaze upward to him.

“Have you been drinking?” she asked coquettishly.
Winston frowned and asked, “Did Eli tell you I was here?”

Joanna obediently nodded. “Yes, he did. tried contacting you, but I didn’t hear back.”
In the next second, she entwined her fingers with Winston’s. Every gesture and smile of hers hinted at flirtation as she coyly said, “Win, Logan is free tonight. He’d like to invite you over for dinner at our place.”
Millie couldn’t bear to watch their display of affection. Every action felt like a stab to her heart. Seeing how engrossed they were with each other, she felt there was no point in staying and left.
“Millie!” Winston called out from behind.
Yet, she merely waved dismissively without looking back. “There’s no need to give me a ride. I can go home by myself.”
Joanna stared at Millie’s retreating figure, her mind filled with questions. Eli had told her that Winston was there to discuss a collaboration. How did he end up meeting Millie?
She was convinced Millie hadn’t given up yet and had intentionally bumped into Winston. The thought only fueled the rage burning inside her.
Joanna feared she would never become Winston’s legitimate wife if she didn’t eliminate Millie.
“Joanna, please don’t ask Eli about my schedule anymore.”
Her hand wrapped around Winston’s waist was abruptly removed. She glanced at him and noticed his expression had darkened. He appeared displeased.
Joanna started to explain herself. “I couldn’t reach you, so I-”
Winston lowered his voice and cut her off, “If you couldn’t reach me, it means I’m busy. When I’m free, I’ll try to contact you
Upon hearing his words, Joanna’s face fell immediately.
“Just look through our chat history. How many times have you contacted me in a year? You’re always so busy!” she grumbled, crossing her arms with displeasure.
Winston paused. He reckoned he had spent more than enough time with Joanna, yet she was still dissatisfied.

What about Millie, then? He barely contacted her throughout the year.
As Winston reflected on how he responded to Millie’s texts and calls, he realized he could never make up for it.
“Win, I just love you too much…” Joanna muttered with her head lowered.
This time, instead of causing a scene, she expressed her love.
