Chapter 52
Edward withdrew his gaze and became cold.

He turned around and looked at the young woman in the back s
seat.
of his company.
Pamela Lynch was her name, a celebrity under the banner of
Pamela and Evangeline used to star together
er in some films, and they had gotten on each other’s bad side..
Their feud in a nutshell–Pamela pushed Evangeline into the water, and the latter gave the former a tight slap

Because of that, Pamela’s face swelled for several days, making it impossible for her to continue shooting, and so, her role was replaced by someone
Pamela went off the roof after being kicked out of the show, cursing and swearing Evangeline on Twitter for a whole month.
Sometime later, she e even spoke sarcastically of Evangeline from time to time.
The entire world knew that they did not get along.
“Are you ready?” came Edward’s question in a deep voice.
Pamela’s mien paled to a ghastly white. She was shaking in her boots. “Mr. Gallagher, can we… d–do this in another way?” she asked tremblingly.
She was so scared that she burst into
tears. “Please try o other means. I beg you! I don’t want to die……
Edward’s countenance darkened at that. “With Evangeline’s current fame and status, what other way is there to bring her down once and for all!”
Pamela bit her lip and could not think of a plan.
Edward then added in a deep voice, “I won’t force you should you refuse to do it. I respect whatever decision you make. That said, I won’t be fulfilling my end of the deal if you choose not to.”
Panicked, Pamela blurted out, “No! Mr. Gallagher, you can’t go back on your word like that! You promised me you’d arrange for my mom to be treated abroad. She’ll be doomed if her treatment is delayed further. You can’t go back on your word!”
Then came Edward’s utterance. “It’s up to you whether your mom could be saved.”
Wearing a deadpan visage, Pamela clenched her fists.
Her father and grandparents had always preferred boys over girls. After her mother gave birth to her, her father abused her mother throughout the years just because she was a baby girl.
When Pamela was still a kid, her grandmother deliberately took her to some dangerous places time and again and tried to put her in harm’s way.
Her mother could put up with all that no more, hence running away from home with her
Considering that her mother was uneducated, physical labor was the only way for her mother to make a living for both of them.
Years of hard work, coupled with irregularities in the factory, had led her mother down the road of contracting pneumoconiosis and other problems.
The diseases in her mother’s body could not be cured by the doctors in the country. Getting her treated abroad was the only hope
Still, she did not have that sort of connection to send her mother abroad for treatment, nor did she have that much money.
Before that. Meghan had been the one donating the money for her mother’s hospitalization fees.
Nevertheless, Meghan also demanded she mess with Evangeline in return.
In fact, it was because of Meghan’s request that she pushed Evangeline into the water during a shoot.
After Meghan’s mishap on the variety show “Jungle Survival” though, she stopped giving Pamela money.
Biting the bullet, the latter comacted Edward a couple of days before, hoping to borrow some cash to cover her mother’s hospitalization and
health

medical fees for that month.
Edward then gave her some in advance.
Then again, the night before, he suddenly contacted Pamela again and said that he had looked into her mother’s condition and found a medical team to treat her mother’s illness
He promised to get her mother back in pink health and bear all the expenses if she did him a favor.
Of course, his offer would not come without a condition.
Her paying the price with her life was what he asked.
Her mother would live on only if she sacrificed hers.
Edward did not compel her to do his bidding. All he did was give her an option.
Nonetheless, Pamela never had any option to begin with.
Given that her mother had sacrificed so much for her, it was her turn to repay her mother
“Mr. Gallagher, you must promise me that you’d cure my mom and give her money enough to live her twilight years…” she stressed
“Mm. As long as you help me rid of that irksome Evangeline, I won’t break my promise. Your mom will live a luxurious life,” was that man’s
reassurance.
Pamela wiped her tears away on that note.
Just then a photo was sent to her phone.
It was a photo of Evangeline entering a private room.
Pamela saved the photo and deleted that message.
On the heels of that, she went onto Twitter, attached the said photo, and tweeted: [1 didn’t expect to run into this wretched Evangeline of all places. What an unfortunate coincidence! It’s time to teach her a lesson of a lifetimel]
Since she did not have that many followers on Twitter, there were only scarce comments below that post
The truth was, even if people did see her tweet, none would give a hoot.
That made sense, for Pamela had always been lashing out on Twitter about Evangeline,
Everyone simply assumed that she was out venting her spleen once more.
After that was a wrap, Pamela stashed away her phone, alighted the vehicle, and strode into the hotel
Meanwhile, Evangeline, Arthur, and the group were having a meal in a private room on the 18th floor of the hotel.
They even ordered a bottle of red wine.
When the waitress was pouring Evangeline a glass, she accidentally spilled some and drenched Evangeline’s clothes.
“I’m so sorry! It was so careless of me… The waitress panicked and kept apologizing.
Upset, Hugo chided, “Are you a greenhorn? Look at how careless you are! You can’t even serve some wine. Why did the manager even appoint you.
to wait on us?”
Arthur bellowed in a deep voice, “I want to see your manager!“.
As for Evangeline, she took a gander at her clothes. “Some drying will do just fine. There’s no need to make such a fuss.”
The waitress was moved to tears. “Thank you for your kind understanding, Ms. Castillo. Allow me to bring you to the lounge outside. Our hotel is equipped with high–powered dryers and steam irons. Light summer wear can be dried in about ten minutes.”

Chapter 52.
Evangeline stood
up and followed the waitress out the d
door.
After arriving at the lounge, Evangeline stepped into the restroom to take off her clothes and let the waitress take them away.
She then put on a bathrobe and waited in the room
Less than ten minunes later, the waitress was back with her clothes.
The clothes had been cleaned and dried.
Evangeline put on her clothes and walked out of the lounge, making her way back to the private room.
Right at the corner of a corridor, a woman suddenly lunged at Evangeline to stab her with a knife.
As fast as lightning. Evangeline reacted and sent the woman flying with a kick.
That knife in the woman’s hand had not touched her one bit.
“Pamela? What the hell are you doing?” asked Evangeline with a frown upon seeing that woman’s face.
Having been kicked to the floor, Pamela dropped the dagger in her hand altogether.
She looked up at Evangeline and flashed a bitter smile.
Suddenly, she rose to her feet, wheeled around as quick as a wink, and bolted toward the other end of the corridor.
Evangeline followed Pamela
Unexpectedly, there was an open balcony at the end of the corridor.
As soon as she went over, she saw Pamela climbing the guardrail.
Evangeline froze for a split second before she rushed over to stop Pamela
Sadly
the former was a little too late.
Pamela made th
the leap without deliberation before Evangeline could get to her.
Jumping down from the 18th floor like that, Pamela was bound to kiss the world goodbye.
Evangeline stood by the guardrail and looked down, only to find Pamela smashed to the ground, and blood quickly spread under her body.
The people near Pamela’s body screamed with fear and quickly dispersed.
Someone among the crowd looked up at the building and saw a person standing on the balcony, snapping a picture with the phone
Soon enough, the trending news of Pamela’s death broke out on Twitter.
The tweet that Pamela had posted about settling the score with Evangeline before she fell from the building was also shared and highlighted by the public.
In addition, a picture of Evangeline standing on the balcony from where Pamela had fallen was also exposed online.
All of a sudden, the internet was ablaze with hearsay,
[Holy crap! What happened? Why was Evangeline on the balcony where Pamela fell off? People are going to have a hard time not to read too much into this…]
[Could it have been Evangeline who pushed Pamela off the building? I remember them having unresolved conflicts…)
[Evangeline’s a deranged witch. I think that’s something she could pull off)
[Think no further. It had to be Evangeline’s doing! Just after Pamela told the world she was going to teach Evangeline a lesson, she fell off the building and died. Plus, Evangeline happened to be there on the spot. Would you believe it if Evangeline had nothing to do with this?]

Chapter 52
[Goodness gracious. We might have always claimed on the internet that we liked how little Evangeline cared about others, but how could she have genuinely given zero fuck about others and literally pushed them off the brink of death?]
[It’s only been a while since she’s risen to fame, hasn’t it? To think that her reputation is this short–lived.]
[Even though I’m a fan of Evangeline, if she really did commit murder, I’d stop supporting her in a heartbeat. No matter what, breaking the law is the bottom line!!
[She’s always been the ferocious one on screen, beating others up as she liked it. Even animals couldn’t escape from her. She clearly has violent tendencies, so her killing comes not so much of a surprise!]
[Evangeline took it too far. Even if Pamela really did pick on her, she shouldn’t have silenced her like that!]
[A life for a life, a vicious woman like Evangeline must pay for it with her life!]
[I think it’s better not to convict her before the police investigation results come out. I personally don’t think Evangeline is the kind who’d do such a thing.]
(Haha! Here comes Evangeline’s foolish follower! The evidence is right before our eyes, so what other investigation results could there be?]
[You call that evidence! It was nothing more than a photo of her standing on the balcony. It showed nothing of her pushing the deceased down.]
[Haha! A die–hard fan is always terrifying! You’re still defending her even when the circumstance has come to this? I wonder whether you’d take the same stance if your parents were being discussed instead.]
Heated discussions were swept up all over the internet.
Many people saw the photo of Evangeline standing on the balcony, coupled with Pamela’s previous tweet, they jumped the gun with the conclusion that it was Evangeline who pushed Pamela off the balcony.
They all cursed and swore at Evangeline, wishing to sentence her online
Although the public had adored her in the livestream, killing was a crime, so most people chose to uphold the law.
Even so, there were also minorities who believed that a conviction should not be reached solely based on those little proof
Yet, netizens were imitable, and public opinion would always lead them easily by the nose. Never did they have the ability to think independently.
As soon as someone spearheaded a perspective of something, the rest would follow the trend once the group who shared the sentiment grew big enough. Not any of them bothered to take the authenticity and rationality of things into consideration.
Amid the chaos put forth by the netizens came a tweet from the official account of Superb Entertainment: [Pamela was one of our company’s most promising celebrities. We’re deeply saddened by the news of her passing. Also, we don’t believe that she took her own life because we just had a company meeting yesterday that she’d be our prioritized supported artist. She also shared with us many of her aspirations, so she can’t end her life that way. Besides, she still had a hospitalized mother to take care of. The two had a deep bond. She’d never leave her mother to fend for herself. The guardrails of that hotel are so high that with Pamela’s height, it’d never have been even remotely possible for her to slip and fall. We hope the police can enforce the law impartially and seek justice for the deceased!
