Chapter 1847

Ethan’s sudden exclamation left Si Xiao bewildered. “What do you mean by that?” she asked.
“The drink’s the same, but the look on Mr. Falconer’s face has changed. It used to be full of charm, alluring in every way. Now, the smile is tinged with bitterness, almost spilling into the drink. Are you sure it doesn’t taste bitter when you drink it?” Ethan watched Alaric with a mischievous grin. They used to enjoy gossiping about Lysander, but with Lysander out of the picture, it was Alaric’s turn in the hot seat. And Alaric’s scandals were numerous. Hearing this, Alaric’s forced smile quickly faded, and he sulkily placed his drink on the coffee table, deciding not to drink it.
“Hertha’s quite the catch, you know. It’s rare to see a woman who can make a playboy like you settle down. Isn’t your family happy about it?” Richard was being serious.
Alaric glanced at Richard from under his eyelids, but it was Ethan who responded: “His family? They’re dead set on Georgia being the one for him. Anyone else entering Alaric’s life is considered a trespasser.”
“Georgia, with her fiery temper and demanding nature, really isn’t Alaric’s match,” Richard pondered. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©. Ads by PubFuture

Ethan replied, “His family doesn’t care about that. Georgia comes from a good family, with loving parents.”
“Alright, you two, stop making fun of me,” Alaric finally spoke up, visibly upset.
“How about we call some ladies over?” Ethan joked, reminiscent of their previous outings.
Ethan’s jest was met with eye rolls from both Alaric and Richard.
Alaric’s look towards Ethan was even laced with anger: “Ethan, say that again, and I’ll cut ties with you!”
Richard added, “Ethan, just because you don’t believe in love doesn’t mean you have to drag us down with you.”
“What? That’s odd. Alaric’s heart is all for Hertha, I get that, but why would I be dragging you down?” Ethan looked at Richard curiously, as if his face was plastered with gossip waiting to be uncovered.
Ethan’s question made Alaric also turn a questioning gaze towards Richard. Ads by PubFuture

Caught by their surprised looks, Richard sheepishly lifted his glass for a sip, avoiding their stares, “Weren’t we talking about Alaric? Why drag me into this?”
“Gentlemen, are you satisfied with your drinks?”Zola, the manager of Sapphire Skyline, entered the room, her words laced with a professional warmth. She was accompanied by a few women, not quite the belles of the ball but charming in their own right. Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org
Before they could respond, Zola quickly introduced them: “Alaric, Richard, Ethan, meet Ruby, Alice, and Mila Our top hostesses. They ve been your companions here before. They’re not only great at holding their liquor but seeing as you gentlemen seem a bit down today, perhaps they can lift your spirits.”

Zola spoke with a light, breezy tone, the hostesses smiling at Alaric, Richard, and Ethan.
Ethan, seizing the opportunity, chimed in: “Well then, let them stay and join us for a drink. Especially since Alaric feels too bitter to even touch his.”
With Ethan’s approval, the three
women quickly took their places
next to them. Ruby, lifting her glass,
coyly offered it to Alaric: “Alaric, is
there any sorrow so deep that could make you forsake a fine drink?” Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org
