Chapter 60
“You misheard,” Jaden said coldly,
Upon hearing this, Ella felt disappointed, and tears immediately streamed down her face.
“You’re lying to me. How could you be to me?” Ella said
Her heart–wrenching sobs were too much for Jaden to handle.
“You win, Jaden said.
“So.. you really can let me see Jaden? Ella asked.
He didn’t respond and turned to leave. She stumbled after him.
At the bar’s exit, Ella’s secretary was waiting.

“Ms. Willow, where are you going?” said the secretary.
Ella said. “No need to pick me up. You can go back now.”
With that, she got into Jaden’s car. He took her to his place and left her in a room, telling her to wait. He stood in front of a mirror, hesitating for a long time before sighing and tearing off his mask.
Ella waited anxiously, thinking about what she would say when she saw Jaden. Before she could decide, the door opened, a cold breeze blew in, and the lights went out. The scene was eerily reminiscent of a horror movie she watched as a child.
Ella blinked through the wind and when she opened her eyes, the door was closed, and there was a silhouette on the balcony.
The moonlight cast a pale glow, making the figure look lonely and cold.
When she saw the familiar face, Ella’s tears streamed down again. Her throat tightened, and she felt she couldn’t breathe.
Ella moved forward impulsively but was stopped.
“Speak from there. Why did you want to see me?” Jaden said.
She stopped, fearing that if she got too close, he would vanish. Ella had so many things to say, but now that she saw him, she couldn’t utter a word.
Her soft sobs filled the room, making Jaden’s heart clench instinctively
“Stop crying“” Jaden said.
Her crying agitated him.
Jaden said, I’m just a stray cat or dog you brought home out of pity. Why be so sad? I’m just a fool, remember?”
“No… you’re Jaden. It’s a beautiful name. You are my husband, the person I will care for all my life,” Ella said through her tears.
Ella continued, “You are not just anyone. No one can look down on you. Only I can call you a fool, and no one else has the right. Whoever dares to scold you or look down on you, I’ll knock their teeth out”
Ella paused and continued, “Tell me, am I really a jinx? I caused my parents deaths, cursed you to die, and now my grandfather is gravely ill Does everyone I care about end up suffering? If I disappear, will they all come back and be finet”
Jaden frowned deeply at her words.
“Who told you such nonsense! Everyone has their own fate. It’s not your fault. Stop overthinking and live well,” Jaden said.
“Then come back, come back and stay with me. I miss you so much” Ella said.
He didn’t respond. His fists clenched silently. He had decided to leave, but now he was wavering.
Ella said, “If you can’t come back, can you at least visit me in my dreams! Were those people mean to you? Did you go hungry or feel cold? Were you very scared before you died? Did you hate me for not coming sooner?”
Jaden still said nothing
“Can I hug you?” Ella asked.
She gathered her courage and moved forward. But just then, the curtains billowed, blocking the moonlight.

Chapter 60

Darkness engulfed her. Panicking. Ella rushed forward, tripping and falling. But by the time she reached the balcony, Jaden was gone.
“Jaden!” She called out his name, but no one responded.
She curled up where he had stood letting the cold night wind sweep over her
At this moment, the lights flicked on. Marcus entered, helping her up.
“The floor is cold,” Jaden said.
Ella remained silent, looking like a delicate doll, fragile and easy to be broken.
“Is he really that important to you?” His voice was hoarse.
Ella still didn’t speak, her eyes dull and devoid of their usual brightness.
He knew what she had been doing, charity work, visiting hospitals for the disabled, investigating that linde girl, and even crashing her car into the Rhys family’s gate,
Jaden should have cut ties with her completely, but every night, he would go to the Willow Group, watching the top–floor lights in the darkness..
“Have a sleep,” he said.
Ella still didn’t respond. He sighed, “Sleep, and he will come back in the morning.”
Hearing this, Ella finally showed some reaction. Her tear–filled eyes looked at him with hope.
“Ill bring him back,” said Jaden.
He hesitated, then gently placed his large hand on her head. He petted her head affectionately, unaware of the doting look in his eyes.
Ella finally fell asleep, trusting “Marcus” inexplicably. He had always managed to keep his promises, and she believed this time would be no different.
She was exhausted, and the alcohol made her sleep deeply.
Jaden stayed by her side for a long time, finally leaving as dawn broke. He changed his clothes and removed the mask.
Hank was shocked to see him. “Sir…”
Jadrif said, “Continue as a fool in the Willow Emily.”
Hank said, “Sir, it’s best to cut ties cleanly..
Before he could finish, he was interrupted by Jaden. “I don’t need you to tell me how to do things. Just follow orders”
Hank immediately fell silent.
As the sun rose, Ella woke up.
Remembering what had happened the night before, she was suddenly filled with energy.
She hurned out of the room, not even bothering to put on her shoes, looking for Marcus.
But then, she saw a familiar figure in the downstairs dining room.
He was sitting there obediently, looking at the food in front of him, seemingly waiting for someone.
Sensing her presence, Jaden looked up and smiled brightly.
“Ella, come eat. I’m hungry.” Jaden said.
When she heard his clear, familiar voice. Ella’s sears blurred her vision. She quickly wiped them away, afraid he would disappear if she couldn’t see clearly.
It was really Jaden.
Ella ran to him and jumped into his arms. Startled, he quickly caught her, holding her tightly.
The familiar scent of her filled his senses, making him realize how much he had missed her.
Despite seeing her every day, he still longed for her presence, to hold her and breathe in
her scent

She held his face in her hands, not worried about him dropping her. She squeezed his cheeks. They were firm and warm. just like before.
He hadn’t lost weight or hurt. He was the same as before he disappeared.
Ella thought, This wasn’t a dream. Or have I not woken up yet?
