Chapter 59
Ethan looks at me, bewildered. He urges, “Ariella, you can’t accept this! I won’t allow you
to die!
I reach into the mindlink that he had established between us a while ago, and 1 breathe a sigh of relief to find it still there. I press against it gently and hope he lets me in. It’s not even a moment later when I feel the shield against his mind give in.
“Trust me.” I push through the mind link to him. ‘I know what I’m doing. I’m not trying to sacrifice my own life here. I have a way that can save myself, too.”
I feel Ethan relax just a little, and the wave of anger that had been coming off of him is fire, but I can deal with that.
Evelyn simply looks between us and raises an eyebrow delicately.
now no longer a blazing inferno. There is still a simmering
I shake my head and say to Ethan in a low voice, trying to act as authentically as possible. “If this is what I need to do for our baby..I’ll do it” I cry and beg him. “Ethan, please!”

Evelyn smirks, “This is my
is my only offer. Take it or not.”
“We’ll take it!” I urge again, pleading with Evelyn, “Please just spare my child!”
This time. Ethan bites his tongue and doesn’t voice his objection
Evelyn asks Ethan for confirmation. “So what do you say, Your Majesty!”
“Fine” Ethan speaks aloud begrudgingly. “Lift the curse on the child and the bloodline, and you will get everything you ask for.”
Evelyn squeals in delight. For a moment, I take the time to process that this is Marcus‘ mother, who used to be my mother–in–law. If fate had been different, I would have been stuck with them for a much longer time.
I shudder. Not only would I have been saddled with Marcus, vile and contemptuous as he is, but with a vicious woman that saw nothing wrong with slowly killing an unborn baby.
“Wonderful!” Evelyn says as she clasps her hands together. “See that your part is done first, and then I will see to my part.
Ethan frowns. “And how do I know you will keep your word?” he challenges. “After you have everything you want.”
glares at him.
Evelyn pla
“It is in a witch’s culture and code that we’ll be bound by our contracts Magically bound, I might add.” Evelyn explains, “You wolves are not bound by any such thing. You can go back on your word if you so choose. Therefore I will take my precautions. Pardon my son, and I will cure your son.” I stifle a gasp. Your sonit Can she al
already determine the baby’s gender?
However, Ethan shows no other emotions. He simply nods. “Fine. Once my convoy and I are safely back at my palace, I will issue the order to pardon Marcus”
“And the second it is done, your bloodline will be safe.” Evelyn puts out her cigarette and offers her hand to Ethan. A shimmering string of magic wraps itself around her hand; a magical contract,
Ethan is about to shake it when Maya suddenly turns to ask Evelyn a
estion.
“Princess Ariellahad a curse put on her years ago,” she says, almost off–handedly. “One that made her wolf dormant. Coincidentally, her parents died at around the same time. You don’t happen to know anything about that, do you?
I turn to her quickly. I’m not sure what makes Maya bring that up now. Although I’m not sure what dots she is connecting that I don’t see, I am eager to hear Evelyn’s answer. Any clue would be helpful,
Evelyn lifts her chin a little. She frowns at Maya and her anger is evident
“Maya, you little brat” she shrieks, “How dare you use the Truthful Spell on metTM
Maya chants. “By my ask, your words cast; let only truth be spoken fast! By my ask, your words east; let only truth be spoken fast!”
As much as Evelyne’s face switches, she can’t help herself but answer to Mays, “I know everything about it. Since I am the one who did it The force of her words hit me all at once. Evelyn was the one who placed the c
curve on file,
she was the one who made my wolf vanish.
And she was the one who killed my parents!

I feel my hands itch and my throat runs dry. It’s impossible to swallow. My gums begin to ache and I feel a sound build at the back of my dry throat
Chapter 39
Before I realize it, I’m snarling, my anger surging uncontrollably. My nails morph into claws as I leap through the air toward her. I can feel my wolf stirring beneath my skin, eager to emerge even from its dormant state.
Evelyn snaps her fingers, but the vines can no longer restrain me. My claws are mere inches from her throat when fear widens her eyes.
“What the fuck!” she exclaims.
In a panic, she snaps her fingers again, and suddenly, I find myself landing on a patch of
f fresh grass along g with
everyone else.
y entrance, I can see the entrance to the swamp burn up in
We’re not even in the swamp anymore, we’re back in the forest, just outside the arch way blue flames, sealing off Evelyn’s domain to us forever.
Ethan’s men start towards it again, but they’re flung back before they can even reach it.
“You idiots!” Evelyn’s voice calls through the air in a high shrill, she sounds both irritated and vindictive. “The deal is off!”
“No, no, no,no, NO00000!” I scream, half–roar. “Let me back in, you coward!”
I want to kill her, rip her apart for all that she took from me. I don’t care about anything else at this moment. The only thing I want is blood and vengeance.
I run towards the burning archway but Ethan catches me in his arms. “Don’t The knockback can hurt you and the baby. It’s over. She’s gone.” This isn’t over! She has to pay?”
I continue to fight and struggle, using all my strength to push Ethan away and get to the arch way before it burns up entirely.
Then suddenly feel a cool sensation all over me and I am shrouded in darkness
When I wake up, I find pillows behind my head and a blanket over my body. We’re already back to the palace. I must have been out for a few hours.
1 look around and see that Eli sits by my bedside. Behind him stand Ethan and Maya.
nothing.”
“You knocked me out,” I mean to yell at him but it’s as though something as blocking my emotional reactions, forcing me to remain calm Maya steps forward, “Actually, that was me. Your wolf tries to come our before she’s ready. You might have gone feral had I done I’m about to tell her off when Eli takes my attention, squeezing my hand.
“Erhan told me what happened, that Evelyn murdered our parents and cursed you, he looks at me with eyes that are slightly red. I feel the rage locked inside me simmer down. “I understand your pain, I feel it too. But we have to be smart about this.”
“We will make her pay.” I say.
“We will he echoes Tm going to head back home. This is something that Kafe and Shawn need to know immediately. Maybe we can come up with some strategies”
He glances over Ethan and says to me, “I can tell you are in good hands here.
I nod and hug him. “Say hello to Rafe and Shawn for me:
“Will do!”
With that, Eli gives me another squeeze before walking out of the room, leaving just me, the Alpha King, and the purple–haired witch. “I’m sorry,” I apologize to Ethan, “I should’ve controlled my anger…”
“It’s not your fault”
“But it was all in vain.” Now that my brother has gone, I don’t have to put up a rough face any more. Tears stream down my cheeks.
I know Maya was just trying to help, but what she did ruined everything! I can’t help feeling more or less resentful towards her.
“Maya, why must you ask that! Had you not, had you not we would have been able to save our child!”
“1. I’m sorry,” she mutters.
I sob a few more times and wipe my tears. Finally, after I was able to cry my emotions out, I say to Maya, “Sorry I shouldn’t have blamed you. You’re just trying to help, and it’s me who should control my teniper!”
“No, you don’t need to apologize,” Maya smiles. “I’m sorry that I upset you so much, but the fact is interrupted the deal on purpose:
