Nathaniel, seated on the sofa, showed no signs of leaving.
Guillermo drew the curtain and began examining the scars on Freya’s face and her deformed left hand.
Nathaniel sat in silence, his attention drawn by Guillermo’s low exclamation and muttered curses.
He frowned slightly. After a moment, Guillermo emerged from behind the partition, his face filled with agitation as he addressed Nathaniel.
“Mr. Morgan, this patient needs to contact the police! The scar on her face is deep, clearly inflicted by a sharp instrument, and it’s an old wound. Due to improper treatment, the wound has become infected. Her vocal cords are severely damaged. Someone forced a cigarette end into her mouth! Her body is covered in wounds. While they may not be as large as the one on her face, they are numerous. Old wounds have yet to heal, and new injuries are present. The bone in her left hand is deformed. This is abuse! Nathaniel lowered his gaze, seemingly unresponsive to Guillermo’s words. His thoughts remained at
mystery.
Ozzy coughed. As old acquaintances in the international medical field, he knew Guillermo was not prone to such emotional outbursts. However, the extent of Freya’s injuries was appalling. Even Guillermo, a seasoned and renowned doctor, was visibly upset.
“Dr. Guillermo, we’ll involve the police later and follow the necessary legal procedures,” Ozzy quickly interjected, changing the subject. “How do you plan to treat her?”
Dr. Guillermo sighed, shaking his head slowly. “Her body is riddled with wounds! It’s horrifying. I can’t imagine what this poor woman has endured. It’s truly terrible!”
Ozzy escorted Dr. Guillermo to another room to devise a treatment plan. Freya rose from the recliner and stood before Nathaniel, her posture rigid.
Neither of them spoke. Nathaniel appeared to be in a somber mood, his gaze avoiding Freya’s face.
“Let’s go,” he finally said after a long silence.
Freya followed Nathaniel out. This was her first medical examination, and with a treatment plan in the works, she knew she would be returning many times.
Koen was waiting with the car outside. Nathaniel and Freya climbed in.
