Chapter 109

Naomi’s actions left Mason and Ronald puzzled. They couldn’t figure out if she still wanted a divorce or whether she would still help them.
Reuben’s and Cameron’s smiles widened. After Naomi sat on Brendan’s lap, the latter’s expression
noticeably brightened up.
Naomi wrapped her arms around Brendon and smiled.
“You didn’t even respond to me when I mentioned the divorce. Which means you don’t wish to divorce me. That’s even better than winning the lottery.”
Naomi’s teasing eased Brendan’s mind. But he still put on airs.
“Naomi, people are watching. Don’t you feel embarrassed?”
Naomi smiled and didn’t let go. “I’m hugging my husband, not someone else’s. What’s there to be
embarrassed about?”
Then, she turned to Reuben and the others. “Am I right, Reuben, Cameron?”
Reuben and Cameron chuckled. “Naomi, you’re the only one who can reign Brendan in.”
“No!” Naomi replied. “I’m not that great. I’m satisfied as long as he doesn’t cheat on me.”
Mason and Ronald exchanged glances.
Should they continue to insist on a divorce between Naomi and Brendan?
Seeing that the two were still puzzled, Naomi chuckled at them. “What are you two standing there for? Sit
down!”
After Naomi’s reminder, the two snuck a glance at Brendan,
The latter didn’t object to it, and Reuben was also signaling them to sit down. Hence, they breathed a sight of relief and finally took their seats.
After Mason and Ronald sat down, Naomi tried to get up from Brendan’s lap, but he suddenly tightened his grip around her waist.
Naomi was taken aback and looked up at Brendan.
She smiled when she saw that Brendan was casually chatting with Reuben and the others, his gaze briefly sweeping over her.
She leaned closer to his ear and whispered, “Mr. Ludwig, there are so many people here. Don’t get too excited.”
Brendan furrowed his brows and pinched her waist. Then, he continued to chat with Reuben and the others as if nothing had happened.
Naomi sucked in a sharp breath from the pinch. She quickly snuck a hand down south and pinched him

hard.
The dim lighting in the bar prevented everyone from seeing their actions. They only saw Brendan’s sudden change in expression, but it quickly returned to normal.
After being teased by Naomi, Brendan whispered, “Prepare yourself. Don’t expect to leave the bed for
three days.*
Naomi huffed. “Okay! Challenge accepted.”
As their conversation progressed, Brendan’s anger toward Mason and Ronald gradually subsided.
Since everyone was having a good time, and Brendan’s mood improving, Naomi got up from his lap and
sat next to him.
She browsed case files on her phone. She had received a criminal case yesterday.
Since Annie’s case had also been settled that day, she needed to focus all her attention on the other case
now.
The little drama with Brendan earlier was because she realized that he didn’t intend to divorce her. Or at
least, he wouldn’t let anyone ruin their marriage.
So, she had decided to tease him a little and helped Mason and Ronald out.
Naomi didn’t participate in the lively conversation. Instead, she worked on her files alone.
Brendan felt his heart warm. He always admired Naomi’s ability to discern what mattered and knowing when to dull her sharp edge.
She always made sure not to embarrass him when they were out in public.
At midnight, when Reuben called the waiter to settle the bill, the latter nodded at Naomi. “The lady has already paid the bill.”
