Chapter 107
Seeing that Michael was calling, Naomi answered the call and put it on the car’s loudspeaker. “Hello, Mr.
Symth.”
“Naomi, you did a great job with today’s lawsuit. There’s talk about it in the Industry now, and a few companies just called to ask about your situation. It seems like they want you to represent them legally,” Michael said.
“Okay, I’ll head to the office right away. We’ll talk more later.” Naomi smiled.
“I bet you haven’t had lunch yet. What do you want to eat? I’ll order some takeout for you myself.
“How about steak? I’ll order it for you now, so you can have it when you arrive at the office,” Michael
asked.
“Thank you, Mr. Symth.” Even after the call ended, the smile on Naomi’s face lingered.
Every time she won a lawsuit, she felt a sense of accomplishment–as though there was a purpose in life.
That sense of happiness was something she couldn’t experience at her family’s company.
More than ten minutes later, Naomi arrived at the law firm.
After finishing the steak that Michael had ordered for her, she immersed herself fully in her work.
At around 8:00 pm, Reuben called her and invited her over to the bar for some drinks. Only then did Naomi notice that it was late and that her colleagues had all left.
She had just finished her tasks as well. She stretched and tidied up her documents before leaving the law
firm.
Meanwhile, at the bar, Brendan had confiscated Ronald’s and Mason’s phones and placed them on the
coffee table.
He lounged lazily on the couch, watching the two with a stern expression.
On the other hand, Ronald and Mason were on the verge of tears.
“I’m sorry, Brendan. I’ll go back to building Hope Elementary School after my two–day leave.” Mason sobbed. Brendan was scarier when he was silent.
Seeing this, Ronald quickly added, “Didn’t you already punish me, Brendan? Why are you still doing this?”
Ronald looked pitiful. Brendan tapped the ash from his cigarette. “We haven’t settled the score for the time you hid at Naomi’s place.”
Ronald felt speechless. “Isn’t one punishment enough?”
Before Brendan could answer, Ronald cried again, “Brendan, it’s not that Mason and I wanted to escape.
It’s just that the place really is hell on earth. Ask Mason if you don’t believe me.”
Mason nodded. “Brendan, that place is shit. The skin on my face is also peeling off.”
They had once been charming young men themselves. But after they had returned this time, their appearance no longer turned heads.
Brendan remained indifferent despite their joint efforts at defending themselves. “And is that my fault?”
“No, absolutely not.” Ronald and Mason shook their heads in unison.
Seeing that Brendan’s anger had not subsided yet and that his marriage with Naomi was not yet over,
Mason felt that Brendan was taking out his anger on them.
He quickly changed the subject. “Give us another chance, Brendan. Let us find Naomi again. We can definitely persuade her to divorce you and save you from this misery.”
A few days ago, he had called Naomi, asking her to save him. Naomi had said that she would pretend to divorce Brendan and even agreed to see the divorce through.
If Mason tried again, then Naomi would definitely agree this time too.
Seeing that Mason had grasped the core of the problem, Ronald quickly followed up.
“Brendan, if you hadn’t banished me last time, I would have handled the divorce for you. Please give me and Mason another chance! We won’t let you down.”
Brendan’s expression was hard to read. He stared sharply at them.
Meanwhile, Reuben and Cameron Rogers exchanged glances.
Things were getting interesting. They could guess why Mason and Ronald had been banished.
