Chapter 68
Ronald became furious once Naomi mentioned his appearance.
“It’s all Brendan’s fault! Look at me now. Can you even recognize me? How can I show my face anywhere?
Naomi replied, “It’s unbearable to look at.”
Ronald was distressed and cursed loudly, “It’s all because of that damn Brendan. I’ve taken care of everything for him, and you’d even agreed to divorce him. But, he actually went back on his word and decided to send me away.”
When he mentioned Brendan, Ronald said warily, “Naomi, my parents don’t know that I’m back. I don’t even know how I managed to get a train ticket. Right now, I only trust you and Bailey. Don’t sell me out.
Naomi looked at him skeptically. “Don’t tell me you plan to stay at my place.”
Ronald said, “Where else can I go? Naomi, I was deported because of you.”
Naomi was speechless for a moment. Then, she said, “You’d better clean

up
first.”
Ronald agreed and was about to get into the car when he noticed that Naomi was driving an Audi. He couldn’t help but back away a few steps.
“Is this the car? When has Brendan ever ridden in a car worth less than a million dollars? Aren’t you afraid
of jolting me around in this?”
Naomi kicked him and said, “I’ve even ridden a subway. What are you complaining about? Get in.”
With Naomi’s stern tone, Ronald obediently got into the car.
Naomi owned several limited–edition luxury cars. But since she was currently working at a law firm and trying to keep a low profile, she drove a car that was worth only several hundred thousand dollars.
Naomi took Ronald to find a place to freshen up. After making sure he looked more like his old self,
Naomi finally took him to her apartment.
After entering the apartment, Ronald repeatedly reminded Naomi not to betray him. Then, he asked, ”
Naomi, do you have any food here?”
Naomi replied, “No one lives here, so there’s no food. I’ll order takeout for you.”
In no time at all, a barbecue delivery arrived. Naomi changed into her casual home attire. She rolled up
her sleeves and ate with Ronald./
While enjoying the food, Ronald asked, “Naomi, how are you and Brendan doing these days?”
While eating a skewer, Naomi replied, “It’s the same as usual!*
Ronald took a hearty bite of a lamb skewer and said, “Why can’t you just be more open–minded? Aside
from having a handsome face, a bit of talent, some money, and a decent physique, what else does
Brendan have? Why are you so fixated on him?”
Naomi looked up and said, “Are you sure you’re not persuading us to reconcile?”
“No way!” Ronald said, “Do you think I’m suggesting reconciliation? Brendan has done so many evil things. The entire Ludwig family’s wickedness has gone to him alone. I just can’t wait for you to divorce him.”
Ronald kept ranting about Brendan while Naomi listened and ate. When he finally stopped his tirade, she
handed him a glass of water.
His mouth was tired from all the scolding. Ronald finally took a breath and summed it up, “Anyway, I won’t agree to it if you want to continue being with Brendan.”
Naomi replied, “I’ll leave, I’ll leave. Just stop mentioning him.”
Ronald narrowed his eyes and grew suspicious. “Naomi, is something wrong? Did you and Brendan have another argument because he didn’t come home again?”
Naomi hesitated. Were her emotions so obvious that even Ronald could see it?
She picked up her glass of water and took a sip.
“Well, it’s become somewhat of a routine at this point.”
Ronald said, “No, you’re different today compared to every time before.”
Naomi chuckled. “You’re quite perceptive.”
Ronald put away his carefree attitude and propped his right foot on the chair. He looked at Naomi seriously and said, “Come on, tell me! What really happened?”
With Ronald’s sudden display of seriousness and masculinity, Naomi revealed, “He went to the cemetery
today.”
