Chapter 67
Listening to the voice on the phone, Naomi asked a few questions and then hung up. She grabbed her car keys and headed out.
Meanwhile, Brendan had just parked his car outside Chloe’s old apartment building. Chloe walked out of the building with a bag in her hand.
“Brendan,” When she saw him, Chloe happily ran over.
Brendan glanced at the open car door. “The bag is inside.”

Chloe bent down to retrieve her bag and then closed the car door. “Caleb is doing his homework, and my
mom’s condition has been stable recently.”
Brendan remained silent.

With her bag slung over her shoulder, Chloe looked up at Brendan, her eyes shining brightly. Her mood was exceptionally good.
Brendan kept his hands in his pockets and calmly said, “Now that things at home have stabilized, it’s time for you to consider your own personal matters.”
Upon hearing this, Chloe sighed helplessly. “Caleb is still too young, and my mom’s health is only temporarily stable. I don’t have the time or energy to think about anything else.”
Then, Chloe suddenly realized something and exclaimed, “Brendan, you’re not thinking that I haven’t had a boyfriend because of you, are you? Please don’t have such thoughts. Even though I… Anyway, it has nothing to do with you. Don’t feel pressured. I have my own plans regarding my personal life.”
As Chloe explained all this, her speech became noticeably faster.
At that moment, she wasn’t sure if her single status had anything to do with Brendan. But she did know that if she weren’t single anymore, she wouldn’t have any reservations.
< < = °  Despite her denial, she couldn’t deceive herself. She liked Brendan.  From the moment she first saw him, she had liked him. She feared that if she wasn’t single, she wouldn’t  even have a chance to like him.  Brendan replied, “I didn’t think too much about it.”  Chloe breathed a sigh of relief. “That’s good.”  Then, she handed him the container of pasta in her hands. “Caleb and I made this pasta ourselves. Take it home and enjoy it with Naomi.”  Brendan responded, “Neither of us cook.”  Chloe grabbed Brendan’s hand and insisted on giving him the pasta. ‘Just take it! Let Jennifer cook them  Chapter 67  for you.”  With the bag hanging from her shoulder, she continued, “On my way down, Caleb kept reminding me to make sure I gave you these. They are freshly made.”  Brendan didn’t continue to refuse Chloe. He placed the pasta in the back seat of his car.  Seeing this, Chloe smiled and said, “It’s getting late, Brendan. You should go back and accompany Naomi! Also, thank you for bringing my bag.”  “You’re welcome.”  After that, Chloe watched as Brendan left. When his car disappeared from sight, she turned around and went back upstairs.  Meanwhile, Naomi had driven her Audi to the entrance of the train station.  As soon as she got out of her car, Ronald came rushing toward her, crying out, “Naomi, I’m here.”  Hearing the voice, Naomi turned around as Ronald hugged her tightly.  “I’m finally back in Ashburgh, and I’m finally seeing you.  Naomi pushed him away. “What’s going on? Why did you come back so late at night? And what happened to you? You look…”  If it weren’t for his voice, Naomi wouldn’t have recognized Ronald, what with his messy hair, dirty clothes, and sallow complexion.  Enjoy Ad–Free Reading>>
