The Charming Ex–Wife
Chapter 527 Help Comes
Tiffany seemed taken aback by Lysander’s sudden change in demeanor, casting a timid glance at Josiah. Seeing no reaction from him, she hesitantly bit her lip and asked, “Lysa, are you feeling upset today? I may not be able to help much, but I can at least lend an ear.”
Lysander’s words were polite yet distant. “I’m feeling okay.”
Even the most dense person would have understood her attitude by then.
Tiffany, like an inexperienced young girl, nodded and said, “All right then.”
She extended her hand, playfully jingling her bracelet in front of Aurora. Successfully eliciting a giggle from Aurora, she, too, broke into a genuine smile. Continuing the conversation with Lysander, she asked, “Lysa, she seems to like me a lot. Can I hold her?”
Lysander didn’t even bother to find an excuse. “No.”
Tiffany paused for a moment, then quickly reassured. “It’s okay, Lysd. I understand that you’re hesitant let me hold the baby because I’m young, inexperienced with children. However, I can learn what I don’t know now. After all, it’s something I’ll eventually need in the future.”
Lysander glanced at Tiffany, her gaze devoid of any emotion. “Ms. Lanister, we’re not that familiar with each other.
Tiffany was at a loss for how to react under Lysander’s gaze, displaying a perfectly measured sense of
unease.
Dillon appeared deep in thought as he studied Lysander, a glint of sharpness flashing in his eyes.
Josiah broke the silence. “Mr. Lanister, Tiffany, dinner time at the restaurant is limited, so if you plan to eat, you’d better hurry up.”
“Sure, sure. Dad, let’s sit with Jose and Lysa. This spot has the best view, Tiffany suggested.
“Now that it’s dark out, there’s not much to see. Also, Lysander is a doctor with mysophobia. She’s not used to dining with strangers. There are plenty of empty seats around. Feel free to choose any.” Josiah gestured to beckon a waiter over. “Guide the guests to select some dishes.”
“Understood, Mr. Guerra.” The waiter gestured. “Esteemed guests, please follow me.”
Dillon didn’t respond immediately, instead turning to look at Lysander as if he had just remembered something. “There’s no rush… Ms. Thorne, do you happen to have a good relationship with Ms. Everhart, the current head of Everhart Corporation?”
Lysander didn’t deny the obvious. I don’t think you have any connection with the Everhart family, right, Mr. Lanister?”
Dillon seemed quite thrilled. “This is fantastic. One of our production lines broke down and, after much thought, it seems only Everhart Corporation’s factory has similar equipment.”
Riveron Corporation and Everhart Corporation had overlapping businesses, but they had never been particularly close. To put it accurately, they were competitors.

he wanted to collaborate with them.
As the saying went, something must be amiss if one was exhibiting abnormal behavior.
Lysander recalled the advice Amelia had given her in the greenhouse, and with a heightened sense of caution, she asked, “It’s just a malfunction, right? It’s not completely broken. Can’t it be fixed with a little repair?”
Dillon looked drastically different from when he first appeared, appearing especially anxious. “I can fix it, but the problem is I had previously taken on a large order that’s due soon. Now, an entire production line is down, and I simply can’t catch up. I remember that the production line in Everhart Corporation’s factory is the same model as ours. If Ms. Everhart is willing to help, we can split the profits fifty–fifty.”
Help comes when one needs it most, ch? thought Lysander. Daphne is indeed in desperate need of money now, although Dillon probably isn’t aware yet that Josiah has helped to arrange an investment from Ms. Lionhart. Still, I can’t help but feel unease from the sudden show of goodwill from these two.
Seeing her remain silent. Dillon asked with evident concern, “Is there something wrong? We can discuss everything. There’s always room for negotiation, even in terms of profit. I can make further concessions.”
Lysander casually asked. “Isn’t it a bit strange for you to discuss this with me, given that I’m not part of the Everhart family, Mr. Lanister? Everhart Corporation’s address and contact information are all available on the official website. Won’t it be quicker for you to directly reach out to them?”
There was absolutely no need for Dillon to beat around such a massive bush, so she was fairly certain something was up.
Josiah watched in silence from the side, deep in thought.
Dillon hesitated a bit before explaining, “Our family business used to have a bit of a rivalry with Everhart Corporation’s. It won’t be appropriate to ask them to lend us their production line now. However, since I happened to run into you, Ms. Thorne, I thought I might ask you to get in touch with Ms. Everhart for
me.
That reason sounded quite plausible, and given his style, it could even be described as attentive.
Or rather, it was clear that Dillon was trying to win Lysander over.
After some thought, Lysander said, “I’ll mention it to Ms. Everhart, but I can’t interfere with her final. decision.”
“That’s good enough.” Dillon said confidently, “This business isn’t complex. As long as Everhart Corporation can deliver on time, it would be a great help to me.”
Tiffany revealed an innocent smile. “That’s wonderful. Lysa, thank you for helping my father.”
Lysander immediately rebutted, “Ms. Lanister, at most, I can only help relay a message. I didn’t promise anything.”
Tiffany finally rose from her seat, timidly approaching her father. She looked somewhat frightened. “Jose, Lysa seems to have suddenly changed. She wasn’t like this before. Did I do something wrong to upset her?”
Lysander paid Tiffany no mind, nor did she offer any unnecessary explanations. She simply picked up Aurora and said, “I’m taking Aurora home first. You can sort out the rest yourself.”

Josiah slightly nodded. “You go ahead. I’ll be there shortly.”
Lysander bowed her head and began tidying up Aurora’s items.
Josiah gently patted her hand. “I’ll take care of it in a bit.”
Without uttering much. Lysander took Aurora and retreated to their room for peace and quiet.
Aurora obediently followed along, not showing any signs of protest until she was placed on the bed for a change of clothes. It was then that she scrunched up her nose, on the verge of crying.
Lysander quickly recalled all the importam things to remember when taking care of a child. After carefully wiping Aurora clean with a wet tissue, she changed Aurora’s diaper.
Aurora instantly stopped crying and broke into a smile.
Lysander found herself lost in the child’s angelic smile.
Aurora bore a striking resemblance to her biological father, with her, delicate brows and eyes, a pointed chin, and skin as white as snow.
However, Elio was pale, while Aurora had a healthy pinkish hue.
However, her personality was completely different from Elio’s. She was cheerful and outgoing, a delightfully easy–going little angel.
Ding!
The doorbell had been rung.
Just moments ago. Lysander called the front desk, requesting they send some wet tissues. Thus, she assumed It must be the staff member who had arrived with the items.
She hurriedly opened the door, only to come face to face with Josiah.
Josiah handed her wet tissues. “Do you have enough of everything else? Need anything more?”
“It’s enough.” Lysander swiftly stepped aside to let him in, casually asking. “Where are Tiffany and her father?”
“Still in the restaurant.” Josiah brought back a bag filled with items such as baby bottles.
Lysander didn’t ask any further and simply reached out to take the bag, first removing essentials like baby formula and placing them on the table.
Their movements were incredibly natural as if they had never been apart.
