Chapter 511 The Chance To Become A Mother
Josiah, holding the baby, froze as well. “What did she just say?”
Aurora, sensing the shift in the atmosphere, thought she had done something wrong and strained to repeat what she just said, parting her tiny, almost toothless mouth. “Mama…”
This time, what she said was so clear that it was impossible to ignore.
Lysander teared up and chuckled, caressing Aurora’s face. “I’m not your mother.”
Yet, Aurora didn’t stop and called her “Mama” over and over again.
Lysander turned away, closing her eyes to suppress my emotions.
She once had the opportunity to become a mother, but that was all in the past now.
Josiah lowered his gaze and fell silent for a moment.

When the baby noticed that Lysander was ignoring her, she raised her tiny hand to touch Lysander’s face. before extending her short arms toward her, indicating that she wanted Lysander to hold her,
Josiah, noticing Lysander still looking disheartened, gently reminded her, “She wants you to hold her.”
Only then did Lysander manage to compose herself, gingerly cradling the baby in her arms. The tiny, soft creature nestled in her embrace trusted her completely, offering a healing, warm sensation while leaning against her. Yet, inexplicably, waves of melancholy still filled her heart.
Josiah didn’t offer any words of comfort and simply stood silently by her side, keeping her company.
The children’s playground was tucked away beneath towering plane trees, creating an atmosphere of serene tranquility.
That was until a passionate voice echoed from afar and disrupted the serenity. “Lysander!”
Lysander heard Daphne’s voice and turned around in confusion, wondering why her best friend would be there. Once confirming it was her, Lysander broke into a warm smile.
Daphne hadn’t seen Lysander for a while and had been missing her, practically jogging all the way toward her. She gasped upon seeing the baby in her arms and Josiah standing beside her, asking, “What… What’s going on here?”
Lysander saw the look of surprise written all over Daphne’s face and was worried her loud voice might attract a crowd, so she quickly shushed her. “Keep your voice down! You’ll scare the kid!”
Aurora tilted her head and wasn’t shy at all, gazing straight at the unfamiliar woman.
Daphine’s eyes lit up when she saw how adorable and delicate Aurora was. For a moment, she forgot all her questions and reached out to pinch the baby’s chubby face. Beaming, she exclaimed, “So soft! Whose child is this? How adorable.”
Lysander spoke softly. “Be gentle. I don’t know how to soothe her if she starts crying.”
Daphne, totally enamored by such an adorable baby, pulled out her phone and snapped a few photos.

“The mother of this child is Jo… Mr. Guerra’s friend. It’s good that you’re here. I was just about to discuss something with you.” Lysander said.
“That can wait. Guess what? I brought a surprise along. If it weren’t for him, I’d probably still be stuck on the mountain road waiting for the insurance company to come rescue me.” As Daphne spoke, she turned around to look behind her.
Right then, Aiden greeted his brother respectfully, “Adrian.”
Adrian hummed in response but paused in his tracks upon seeing Josiah and the child in Lysander’s arms.
Josiah, however, wore a smile and greeted, “Dr. Sutton.”
“I’m here for Lysander,” said Adrian.
Josiah turned to look at Lysander. “Dr. Sutton’s here for you, Go ahead. I’ll take care of the baby.”
Adrian’s face fell as soon as Josiah said that.
After placing the child in Josiah’s care, Lysander approached Adrian. “Dr. Sutton.”
Adrian averted his gaze from Josiah and the baby, asking softly, “I haven’t heard from you these past few days, but I know that you fell ill in Apex City. How are you feeling now?”
“Thanks for asking. I’m much better now.”
Adrian flashed a bitter smile. “We’ve only been apart for about a week, yet it seems like we’ve grown quite
distant.”
“Have we? Perhaps it’s just because there’s been a lot going on lately.
A hint of disappointment flickered in Adrian’s eyes, yet he maintained a smile on his face. “I see. By the way, White Coat has recently started to shed its fur. It’s grown a lot bigger than before. When will you.
come to see it?”
“Mama… Mama…” Aurora kept gazing in Lysander’s direction, but she was too far away, so all she could was wave her tiny hands in the air.
Lysander’s heart would clench every time she heard Aurora call her that.
“There, there. I’ll take you to her.” Josiah adjusted the baby’s posture in his arms before approaching. “Lysander, the baby wants you.”
She reached out to take Aurora from Josiah after a moment of hesitation. “All right, give her to me.”
Josiah carefully placed Aurora into/Lysander’s arms, only letting go upon ensuring the baby was secure. “She’s definitely more attached to you.”
Lysander answered, “Children of this age are usually most attached to their mothers. Her mother isn’t here, and I just held her for a while, so she’s probably more familiar with me now.”
A faint smile finally graced Adrian’s face when he heard that. “Is her mother really that busy that she has to leave her child in someone else’s care?”
“Looking after a child is quite tiring, and occasionally she might want to unwind a bit. By the way. Dr.

Lysander smiled bitterly. “Actually, it’s good that White Coat thinks you’re its owner. After all, its previous owner is your friend. Plus, I don’t have the time to take care of it now and can’t give it the companionship it needs. It might be better to find it a more suitable owner.”
Adrian said in a serious tone. “Rina gave you the dog, so you are its forever owner. Anyway, focus on your work first. You can do it”
Lysander chuckled. “Thank you. Oh, by the way, are you here for your younger brother?”
Aiden had been ignored after greeting Adrian and was now standing in the corner wordlessly.
He glanced at Josiah and then at Adrian before continuing to shrink into the corner.

“Yeah, encountering Adrian was the best thing that happened to me today,” Daphne agreed, showering him with praises.
“I finally understand just how rare calm people are.” Daphne’s insinuation was so obvious that she practically spelled Josiah’s name out loud. As if that wasn’t enough, she added, “Unlike some people who exact revenge any chance they get, ruining my plans.”
