Chapter 183 Demolition
Michelle was visibly surprised.
She had braced herself for a stern reprimand from her sister, but Lysander’s behavior didn’t indicate any severe opposition
Even more unexpectedly, Zachary, who had previously been supportive, had completely changed his stance.
As she watched her sister settle the bill at the front desk and then depart with Zachary, Michelle felt an acute pang of distress seeing them walk away, growing more distant with each step.
Calvin, still wearing a slight frown, turned to her. “Michelle, what’s up with them? Do they think I’m dragging you down? They just look down on me, don’t they?”
Unable to contain her frustration, Michelle pleaded, “Stop talking.”
Once they were back in the car, Zachary still couldn’t make sense of Lysander’s decision.
“You’ve always been the voice of reason. Calvin’s family is chaotic, and yet you’re considering helping Michelle to convince your parents? Lysander, are you truly ready to risk Michelle’s future? What if they move to Apex City and Calvin ends up saying, I can’t do anything, my parents arranged this engagement? What’s Michelle supposed to do then?”

As Lysander buckled her seatbelt, she posed a question, “So, what do you suggest we do? Try to break them up?”

“At the very least, we should be putting some pressure on Calvin, right? He needs to deal with his parents and that childhood sweetheart of his.”

“Don’t you see how youthful love works? The more the world tries to pull them apart, the stronger their resolve becomes, wrapped up in that melodramatic notion of betraying the world for love. If I intervene now, I might just end up intensifying their feelings.”
Zachary, caught off–guard by her insight, remarked, “I didn’t expect you to understand so deeply.”
“I’ve seen it before with my own eyes. Remember my friend, Harper? That’s exactly what happened to her. The more people opposed her, the deeper she fell.”
“So… what are you planning to do now?”
Lysander chuckled lightly, “Michelle might be a bit impulsive at times, but she isn’t foolish. Let’s give her some time to think things over by herself.”
Zachary nodded and started the car.
“Hey, why is that white Cayenne behind us again? Do you think they’re really following us?”
Lysander responded nonchalantly, “Let him be. If he wants to follow, let him. He’ll give up when he realizes it’s hopeless.”
Zachary kept an eye on the rearview mirror. Seeing that Lysander displayed no concern, he finally breathed a
sigh of relief.
The Cayenne had been appearing too frequently these past days.
Initially, Zachary suspected that Lysander’s ex–husband was reluctant to let go. However, considering the turmoil within Guerra Group lately–the CEO embroiled in a hit–and–run scandal and detained, his new partner consistently causing public disturbances, and the company’s stocks plummeting- it seemed unlikely.
Josiah, managing such a vast enterprise, would be too preoccupied to engage in such behavior, especially today, which was the day of his engagement party with his new girlfriend.

Trying to break the ice, Lysander greeted them, “Dad, Mom, was the bus ride smooth?”
Maverick looked up at her and then patted the couch beside him, signaling for her to sit.
Settling beside her father, Lysander asked gently, “What’s the matter, Dad?”
“Lysander…” Maverick seemed to struggle with his words. After a few moments of silence, he finally relented. unable to articulate his thoughts, “I’ll let your mother talk,” he concluded.
