Chapter 179 Suddenly Feel A Bit More At Ease
Lysander threw a glance back at him, her lips curling into a hint of soft laughter. “What do you think?”
Zachary studied her expression carefully, then subtly shook his head, his voice tinged with realization, “I understand now.”
“Do you really?”
“Yes,” he added, breaking into the conversation with a reflective tone, “I suddenly feel a bit more at ease as well.”
Lysander shifted her gaze away, falling into a contemplative silence.
Zachary’s voice softened. “You may not have feelings for me, but it seems you didn’t have much affection for your ex–husband either. Ever since I heard about your divorce, you’ve seemed rather unfazed. If it were Michelle… I imagine she could have cried a hole in the sky by now.”
“What does that have to do with feeling at ease?”
Zachary let out a light chuckle, “By that logic, I’m toe–to–toe with a scion, right?”

“Are your legs feeling any better now?”

“Much better, thankfully. The pain has significantly subsided after applying some cold water.”
Earlier, when they had exited the car, Lysander had made a point to be the first one out.
There was a suitcase in the trunk, most likely Zachary’s, which probably contained a change of clothes.
She had waited there for a moment, and as expected, saw Zachary had changed into a pair of shorts by the time he walked over.
However, these shorts were quite loose and made from a slick material, looking more like they belonged to a sports uniform.
Kneeling down for a closer inspection, Lysander remarked, “Hmm, it’s still a bit swollen. It should go down in a few days. Just be extra careful these next few days, try not to let the burn rupture, or it could easily become infected.”
Zachary acknowledged her advice with a gentle hum, then added, “Thank you for not charging me for this consultation, Dr. Thorne.”
Lysander slowly stood up, a light laugh escaping her. “Even if you went to the hospital, you wouldn’t come to me for a consultation. I’m a gynecologist.”
It could have been because they had known each other since they were children that there was an initial sense of alienation between them. However, after exchanging a few words, they gradually rediscovered the familiarity of their childhood friendship.
The interaction no longer felt so formal.
“Lysander…”
“Hm?”

Chapter 179 Suddenly Feel A Bit More At Ease
“I saw the video where you were falsely accused… right at the hospital entrance.”
Lysander’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, though her expression remained neutral. “I’ve heard the internet rumors are quite intense,” she replied.
“It is, but most of the attention was focused on the fact that Mr. Guerra was cuckolded by a dark–skinned man. It barely affected you, and on the rare occasions you were mentioned, they only praised your bravery and cunning.”
Lysander responded simply with an “Oh.
By the way, do you know Mr. Guerra? Earlier at the restaurant, he looked like he was seething with anger…. was really sweating bullets, worried he might seek revenge on you.”
Lysander raised an eyebrow. “Revenge on me?”
“You did publicly expose his wife’s scandal, which sent his reputation plummeting and turned him into a laughingstock. If he truly seeks revenge, I’m afraid it’s not something we ordinary folks could handle.”

Lysander spoke softly, her tone calm, “No, it’s not my fault. It was his girlfriend who was in the wrong, not me. If she hadn’t insisted on antagonizing me, I wouldn’t have revealed the truth.”
“True, the Guerra family has such a vast empire; he wouldn’t be so petty. Moreover, since you two are already. divorced, he wouldn’t go to the extent of completely ostracizing his ex–wife.”
As they were speaking, Michelle ran over, calling out excitedly for her sister.
Lysander looked at the men’s jacket she was holding and the half–drunk bottle of mineral water in her hand, feeling somewhat helpless. “What’s going on with you?” she asked. “Why haven’t you gone home yet? It’s late and our parents are worried sick.”
Michelle playfully stuck out her tongue. The basketball game was so captivating, I just lost track of time.”
“You…”
“Lysander, my dearest sister, you’ve kept this secret from Mom and Dad for me, haven’t you?”
Zachary lightly poked her forehead. “Your sister and I had to team up to cover for you this time. It seems like we’ve managed to fool them for now, but if you keep this up, I doubt we can keep it a secret for much longer.”
