Chapter 156 He Is Stuck With That Girl
Maverick revealed a set of pearly white teeth as he chuckled sheepishly.
Lysander spoke honestly, telling Maverick all about the day she bumped into Lysanne’s parents in the hospital humbly pleading with Josiah not to abandon their daughter.
When Maverick heard about Josiah’s intention to sever ties with Lysanne, his expression was one of immensel satisfaction. However, upon hearing about Lysanne’s parents, he let out a long sigh and patted Lysander’s shoulder. “It seems he’s stuck with that girl in this lifetime.”
This was more or less what Lysander thought as well.
Lysanne had lost her ability to bear children, and the health of the elderly Thorne couple was deteriorating. While they were still in relatively good health, they wanted to secure a stable future for their only daughter.
Josiah was essentially raised before their eyes, so they knew him inside and out. They had absolute faith in his character.
As long as he gave his approval, the latter half of Lysanne’s life wouldn’t be too shabby.
Yet, they understood in their hearts that binding Josiah for a lifetime was also unfair to him.

However, they had no choice. For the sake of their daughter, they had to play the villain. Using their status as elders, they pressured him with their health and even their lives. They used every means possible to force him to swallow this thorn in his throat.

that girl’s mother seriously ill”
Lysander shook her head. “I’m not quite sure myself. All I know is that she has to use a wheelchair, and she indeed appears to be quite frail.”
Maverick extinguished his cigarette, sighing. “Having a daughter like this… Well, it’s just…”
Lysander didn’t want to continue with the current topic, so she decided to inquire about Michelle’s situation. “Dad, you mentioned over the phone that Michelle is in a relationship. Is he one of her classmates?”
“If only he were her classmate… Maverick grew exasperated at the mention of that. “He’s her physics teacher from the cram school!”
“What?”
“The physics teacher’s kid is already in elementary school!” Maverick said through gritted teeth.
This is getting a bit out of hand.
Lysander furrowed her brows in concern. “Does the physics teacher know about this?”
“Of course he does.”
“What did he say?”
Maverick scoffed, “He came to speak with your mom and me once. He said it’s the final stage of the college entrance exams and suggested we should let Mich finish her exams before discussing it with her. He was worried that a direct rejection might affect Mich’s performance. He sure knows how to sweet–talk, yet he continues to act all friendly with Mich, even going so far as to stay behind to help her with her physics.”
The more Lysander listened, the more absurd she thought it was. “Has Michelle’s grades dropped

significantly?”
“Yeah. She only focuses on physics and neglects all other subjects. It’d be surprising if her grades didn’t drop.”
Immediately, Lysander stood up. “I’m going to the cram school to have a chat with that teacher.”
“That’s what your mom and I were saying. Michelle is quite rebellious these days, and she talks back to us! She’s always listened to you. Maybe she’ll listen if you talk to her.”
Lysander asked Maverick for the address of the cram school, then hailed a cab and went straight there.
According to Maverick, Michelle’s tutoring class should end at noon. She arrived at the building fifteen minutes before noon. After waiting for a short while downstairs, she spotted Michelle.
She was still dressed in her school uniform, carrying a backpack over her shoulders. Beside her stood a man who appeared to be around thirty years old. He was wearing a suit, with black–framed glasses perched on his nose. In one hand, he was holding a stack of folders, while in the other, he was carrying a large set square.
Not far away, Lysander took a moment to size up this physics teacher.
He appeared slightly younger than Maverick had described. From her father’s words, she had assumed he was a bald man. But surprisingly, his hair was quite thick..
He was fairly good–looking, and he seemed to have a pleasant temperament. He was attentively explaining something to Michelle, his head bowed slightly.
Even so, she thought a married man shouldn’t be alone with an underage girl. This alone spoke volumes about his character.
Lysander walked over and called out, “Michelle.”
Michelle froze for a while before brightening up and skipping over. “Lysander! What brings you here? Did you just get back?”
“Michelle, could you get me a bottle of water? I’m feeling a bit thirsty.”
Michelle obediently nodded. “All right, wait for me. I’ll be back soon.”
She headed toward the nearby convenience store, carrying her backpack. Her ponytail swung back and forth as she ran
Lysander withdrew her gaze, just in time to see the physics teacher passing by her side.
He seemed to have noticed her talking with Michelle. Knowing they were family, he even gave a friendly nod in greeting with a smile.
As he brushed past her, Lysander called out to him, “Hello, I’m Michelle’s sister.”
The physics teacher halted in his tracks, giving a polite smile. “Hello.”
“May I have a talk with you?”
