Chapter 455
“Mr. Johnson, we tried reaching Mr. Francis, but no luck!”
How could that be? Gilbert hesitated, glancing at the people around him.
Leaning close to Sherilyn, he whispered, “Sherilyn, I need to step out for a call*
Sherilyn gave him a curious look, clearly puzzled by the situation, but she didn’t ask any questions, simply nodding instead.
“Sure, go ahead.”
Gilbert stood up and stepped outside, dialing a number.
The call was picked up quickly
It was Caroline’s agent, “Mr. Johnson.”
Gilbert didn’t beat around the bush, “What’s going on?”
The agent relayed the news, “Caroline just fainted on set?”
Gilbert’s brows fumowed in concers, instation lacing his voice, “Call an ambulance Why are you calling me?? Do I look like a doctor?”
“Mr. Johnson, don’t worry, we’re on our way inan ambulance
The agent sounded jittery. “But I thought this matter is quite important, shouldn’t we inform you and Wi Francis about 2°
Gilbert massaged thus forehead, trying to suppress his anger, “How is Caroline now?”
‘We’re not sure yet. But the attending doctor thinks she’s just overworked..”
Lately, Caroline had bees juggling wedding preparations and rushing to wrap up her projects
Her body was starting to show the strain,
“Alright, I got
“Mr Johnson” the agent asked softy “You’ll come over, right?”
Gilbert was noncommittal simply stating, “TI get in touch with my brother”
With that he hung up
He immediately tried calling Francis Johnson. But just like the agent said, he couldnt get through to his brother
What was going on?
Gilbert was puzzled. Francis wasn’t back at work yet, and today wasn’t a day he was due for a check–up. Shouldn’t he be at home at this time?
So, he called the Johnson Mansion.
Cara answered, “Mr. Gilbert.”
“Cara, is my brother at home?”
“Mr. Francis? No, he left in the afternoon with Sawyer. Mr. Gilbert, is something wrong?”
“No.”
After hanging up, Gilbert’s brows furrowed deeply, his mind filled with questions.
Francis and Sawyer had left together in the afternoon? For such a long time, what were they up to?
It wasn’t that he wanted to doubt Francis, but ever since he had woken up, there had been too many suspicious things!
Pocketing his phone, Gilbert turned and went back to the cinema.
Sherilyn was still sitting in her seat, intently watching the big screen, laughing along with the rest of the audience at the movie.
“Sherilyn.”
Gilbert didn’t want to disrupt this pleasant moment, but he had no choice.
“Back already.” Sherilyn responded without looking at him.
“Sherilyn.*
Gilbert had to lean in close and whisper, “Caroline collapsed on set and was taken to the hospital. I can’t reach my brother, so… I might have to go there.”
Sherilyn paused, turning to look at him.
Gilbert felt somewhat guilty, a fine sheen of sweat on his nose, “Sherilyn, I just need to…” “Got it.” She cut him off before he could finish, waving her hand. “Then you should hurry.” With that, she turned back to the screen, engrossed in her movie.
Her quick agreement and nonchalant attitude only made Gilbert feel more uneasy.
He held her hand, “Are you upset? I didn’t plan on going, but my brother’s whereabouts are unknown.”
“Shh,”
Sherilyn placed her index finger to her lips, signaling him to be quiet.
“In a public place, let’s not talk. It’ll disturb others. Didn’t I tell you to go? COO
