“Wow, look at that height!”
“And he’s so handsome too!”

“Doesn’t such a hottie have a girlfriend?”
By the time Gilbert had snagged his tickets, a small crowd had already formed around him. He casually shoved the tickets into his pocket
“Hey there!”
A bold girl, mustering all her courage, stepped in front of him.
Gilbert frowned in confusion, “Yes? Can I help you?”
The girl, still a bit nervous, held up her phone. “I’m really sorry to bother you, but could I possibly get your Instagram?”
Ah.
Gilbert got it in a flash. He was being hit on.
He politely declined, “I’m sorry, but I don’t have a phone. Excuse me, my girlfriend is waiting for me.”
With that, he waved towards Sherilyn and quickly walked over to her.
The girl who tried her luck: Heartbroken…
Of course, a guy like him would have a girlfriend.
“I’m here!” Sherilyn couldn’t help it; she burst into laughter.
“What’s so funny?” Gilbert was puzzled, “Am I a joke to you?”
“Yes!”
Sherilyn couldn’t stop laughing and nodded vigorously, exclaiming, “You, you… don’t have a phone? Ha–ha…”
She had heard everything. “Mr. Johnson, couldn’t you come up with a better excuse? Who doesn’t have a phone these days?”
Gilbert didn’t mind. “It works, doesn’t it? Clearly shows I wasn’t interested.”
Fair point, but it was a bit harsh.
“Look how loyal I am, and you’re still making fun of me.”
He wrapped an arm around her, pointing towards a snack stand, “Want me to grab you

some snacks? Everyone else is munching on popcorn and sipping on milkshakes.”
“No, thanks.” Sherilyn wrinkled her nose, declining. “A calorie bomb. Do I want to maintain my figure or not?”
But then she bit her lip, hesitating.
“How about… getting me a candy instead? Just one.
“Sure.” Gilbert chuckled, ruffling her hair, I’ll get it for you.”
This time, they went together, hand in hand.
The candy stand had too many flavors; Sherilyn was spoilt for choice.
“Which one?”
“Um…” Sherilyn pointed at one, “That one…”
“All right.”
“Wait!” After a thought, she tugged at Gilbert, changing her mind, “Actually, that one?”
Yet, she couldn’t let go of the first choice.
Watching her indecision, Gilbert couldn’t help but smile, “Don’t worry, no need to stress.”
He asked the vendor to buy all flavors.
“Hey!” Sherilyn quickly stopped him, “I can’t eat that much!”
“No worries.”
Gilbert smiled at her, paying the vendor.
“Sir, your candies.”
“Thank you.”
He handed Sherilyn both candies, “You start. Whatever you can’t finish, I will.”
“Well, okay then.”
Taking the candies, Sherilyn’s smile gently spread across her face.
In that moment, Gilbert was slightly dazzled. Sherilyn was smiling… It was the first time she had smiled like that in front of him since they’d gotten together…
The movie started.
It was pretty engaging, and Sherilyn was absorbed. Gilbert, less so, his attention half on her.
Until his phone vibrated in his pocket.
