For years, Thaddeus had watched as the man coolly and confidently maneuvered through life’s challenges. It’s rare to see him caught in a dilemma. Thaddeus had a hunch that Lemira meant something different to Orion now.
At the moment, Lemira was perched on a toilet in the restroom, rubbing her face. She was as timid now as she had been brave moments ago.
No wonder they say confessing your feelings was impulsive; it could easily make things awkward between two people.
She must have been under some spell to muster the courage to say those words.
What now? How could she face Orion? So awkward!
Lemira had stayed in the restroom for what seemed like ages, wishing she could just disappear.
When knocking finally came from the other side of the door, Lemira left the stall, making room for the next person.
As she washed her hands, feeling downcast, a surprised voice came from beside her, “Lemira? It’s you!”
Lemira looked up to see Evelina, and then quickly went back to washing her hands, ignoring her.
Evelina, however, was thoroughly examining Lemira, and upon seeing the fox mask, she recalled it, remarking jealously, “So, you were the one dancing up a storm in the middle of the dance floor?” She hadn’t expected that Lemira could dance with that kind of moves!
Lemira flicked the water off her hands, “None of your damn business!”
“You hanging all over some guy at the bar, if Lucian finds out, he’d be pissed.”
Lemira rolled her eyes and walked straight away.
Evelina followed her out, bumping into Dorian who was waiting outside. She hurriedly said, “Lemmy, where are you going? I’m just worried about you. Alaric’s here too, just hanging out in a private room with some friends. I just texted him.”
Lemira turned and glared at Evelina, “Spare me your fake concern, will you? Just stop following me.”
Evelina immediately looked hurt, and Dorian stepped in at this, “Hey, Lemira, be nicer, okay? If you keep bullying my girlfriend, you really think I won’t stand up for her?”
Dorian had been interested in
Lemira, but after being publicly
embarrassed by her, he shifted his attention to Evelina, thinking how he’d show Lemira one day that Evelina was doing better without her, making Lemira regret rejecting him.
Today seemed like the perfect chance.
Lemira’s eyes sparkled with mockery, “If playing the victim is bullying, then jails would be way overcrowded.”
“How dare you speak like that? Apologize right now!”
Lemira wasn’t about to apologize. Kept demanding apologies, was he out of his mind?
“What’s going on here?”
Thaddeus and Orion had been nearby and saw Lemira being stopped by Dorian, so they hurried over.
As Lemira turned to see Orion, her face flushed red, but luckily she was wearing a mask and the lighting was dim, so it probably wasn’t noticeable.
Evelina, seeing the two masked men, deliberately said, “Lemira, hanging out at bars with strangers? You’ve really changed.”
She had to tarnish Lemira’s image in front of Dorian.
Sure enough, Dorian’s expression darkened, and he sneered at Lemira, “I thought you rejected me because you were after some rich guy, but turns out you’re so open. Should have said so earlier.”
Orion stepped forward, “Kid, you better watch your mouth.”
