Chapter 705
Gideon thought he heard Gino wrong. “How much?”
“One or two hundred million,” Gino gave an estimated figure.
Gino noticed the look of disbelief on Gideon’s face and exclaimed in disdain, “Don’t you have that kind of money? That’s impossible. You’ve been running your business for so many years. Yet you can’t even come up with one or two hundred million?”
“No one is stupid enough to have a few hundred million dollars ready to use anytime. I only have five million.”
Gideon didn’t know what to say. He did have about 200 to 300 million worth of personal assets, but he wasn’t that foolish to not make any investments. Why would he hold so much cash on hand and let it lose its value?
“Hera transferred 300 million to me the last time,” Gino said sinisterly. “Once she’s awake, I’m telling her that you called her stupid!”
Gideon cleared his throat. “I meant that others are foolish, but Hera is very wealthy!” He immediately changed his tune.
“Too late. I’ve already recorded what you said. Once Hera is awake, I’ll play it for her!” Gino waved his hand. “I won’t tell her anything if you give me five million dollars.”
His words rendered Gideon speechless. He glanced through the glass window and suddenly remarked, “You can tell her anything as long as she wakes up.”
After hearing that, Gino’s threatening expression faltered instantly. He turned to lean against the glass window and peered at Hera with his lips tightly pressed together.
Gino had already bought all of Killian Corporation’s shares, so why wasn’t Hera waking up yet?
By the time Johnson arrived, he happened to see Gideon, Gino, and Lilith standing in one line, leaning against the glass window. The sight of them staring anxiously at Hera in the intensive care unit was somewhat amusing and disheartening.
“Mom, Gideon, I just saw Hera’s finger move!” Gino suddenly shouted.
“I think I saw that too!” Lilith widened her eyes.
“I’ll call for a doctor.” As soon as Gideon turned, he saw Johnson. He quickly urged Johnson to hurry inside and check on Hera
After putting on a surgical gown, Johnson frantically led a few doctors and nurses to enter the intensive care unit. After a thorough check-up and a change of medicine, Hera finally woke up in the afternoon. She was transferred from the intensive care unit to a regular ward.
“Hera, you’re finally awake. Do you feel discomfort anywhere?” Lilith remained by the bedside. Her heart ached to see Hera’s pale face, and she couldn’t hold back her tears. She couldn’t even imagine the terrifying situation that Hera faced earlier. Lilith almost lost her forever.
“Mom, I’m fine. Don’t cry.” Hera raised her hand, intending to help wipe away Lilith’s tears. But she realized that her left hand was bandaged, so she used her right hand instead.
“I’m just too happy. Luckily, you’re alright.” Lilith wiped her tears away in a hurry before cautiously holding Hera’s hand. She was afraid that she would accidentally affect the IV on the back of Hera’s hand.
“Hera, I knew you’d wake up!” Gino went toward the bedside and continued, “I’m telling you, Killian Corporation’s share price has dropped three days in a row. I’ve already bought 300 million dollars worth of shares for you. Gideon even said…”
Gideon did not expect Gino to tattle on him so quickly. Hera still needed rest, and Gideon wanted to maintain his image as a good elder brother.
He immediately tugged Gino to the side and whispered, “I’ll transfer five million dollars to you soon.”
“Six million dollars!” Gino decided to take the opportunity to negotiate.
Gideon wanted to maintain a good impression on Hera, so he replied through gritted teeth, “Fine!”
“Make the transfer now!” Gino exclaimed. He looked as if he were ready to tell Hera everything if Gideon did not make the transfer immediately.
Gideon swallowed his pride as he took out his phone again and began to make a few transactions.
Once Gino confirmed that he had received the money, he returned to the bedside. “Gideon said you’ve got plenty
of money to spend, Hera. So, you’d definitely wake up. Otherwise, no one would be able to help you spend your money.”
Gideon was shocked. He had never uttered such words before.
Watching Gideon and Gino bickering with each other made Hera realize that it was good to be alive.
She smiled before sweeping a glance across the ward.
There was no sign of the one she wanted to see the most. She was about to speak when she found her throat to be terribly dry and hoarse. She couldn’t even speak.
