Chapter 680

“I saw you come here yesterday, but you didn’t make any noise at all. Don’t tell me you just woke up at this hour?” Tyler pointed out after seeing Hera in her pajamas.

She was wearing a sleeveless black nightgown, which emphasized her fair skin. Her slender neck and her curvaceous figure made him swallow awkwardly and shift his gaze away from her.

It wasn’t that he was trying to act all naive. He was afraid that he might lose it if he continued looking at her.

He remembered how she had kicked him in the groin the last time. It hurt a whole lot, and he didn’t want history to repeat itself.

Sensing his gaze, Hera reached for the jacket on the coat rack near the door.

“Why are you here?” She yawned as she headed back into the house. Seeing the lunchbox on the coffee table, she suddenly felt a tinge of hunger in her belly.

“I made some discoveries.” Tyler walked into the house, plopped on the couch, and crossed his legs, making himself at home as if he owned the place.

“Tell me about it,” said Hera, her ears perking up as she walked over to sit opposite him.

“Is this how you’re supposed to treat your mentor?” Tyler lifted an eyebrow, dissatisfied.

Hera clucked her tongue out of habit and produced a mini coffee grinder from under the coffee table. After taking her time making coffee, she poured Tyler a cup of steaming coffee.

He took a sip of the coffee and decided that he was happy with the service. He told her, “Twelve years ago, the Astral Nova members had indeed gone to the Killian residence. They had Daphne Jones design a key code for them. This project was confidential. I don’t know anything else about it.”

Hera was aware that the organization was highly secretive, but she just had to ask, “Why her?”

“After her sudden death, the organization was worried that the information in her hands would be exposed, so they had some men head over to take back all the data.”

It meant that Astral Nova wasn’t behind Daphne’s death. How dare Rhett lie to Hera and say that the organization was behind Daphne’s death!

Linda’s pre-surgery voice in the recording and Rhett’s pretentious kind demeanor resurfaced in Hera’s mind. Hera cursed under her breath and deduced that both Linda and Rhett must have had something to do with Lucius’ imprisonment.

For now, Hera’s new goal was to find a way to reveal Linda’s and Rhett’s true colors!

“It isn’t that tough to look into this matter. Why didn’t you ask Bernard to help you?” Tyler was curious.

Hera drank her coffee in silence. She recalled how Bernard would always tell her that he failed to discover anything whenever she asked him about it. He’d change the topic to something else too. Hera would be lying if she said she wasn’t mad at him for it.

Realization dawned on Tyler at her silence. He suddenly seemed a little gleeful. “Did you two get into a fight?”

She remained silent, to which he excitedly said, “I discovered something rather interesting too. I’m sure you’ll be interested in it.”

As he spoke, he poured himself more coffee, seemingly rejoicing in Bernard’s misfortune.

“What is it?” Hera raised her eyes to look at him.

Tyler announced, “This case about your father-scratch that your ex-father, was covered up by Bernard himself.

He waited for Hera to look all shocked and astonished. This was big news, after all. He was also sure that it’d wedge a bigger gap between Hera and Bernard.

To his dismay, Hera simply responded with, “I see.”

She remained calm and composed because she already knew he was going to say that. Only Astral Nova could intervene in matters regarding the Killian family, much less the three other influential families in the country.

Tyler’s eyebrows shot high up on his forehead. “Huh? Aren’t you surprised? Aren’t you looking into Lucius’ case?” “I am surprised,” Hera stated plainly.

Her reaction rendered Tyler speechless. If she truly was surprised, she wouldn’t be talking to him so coolly like this. Her response was perfunctory. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ ꜰind_ηovel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

All of a sudden, Hera asked, “Aren’t you thinking of keeping your inheritance? I have a suggestion for that, but first, do you want to try it out?”
