Chapter 677

“Aren’t we supposed to sleep together one last time before we break up?” Bernard asked.

Hera was flabbergasted. “In your dreams!” she snapped.

It was so ridiculous that she couldn’t stop herself from laughing.

Bernard then asked, “Does that mean that we aren’t breaking up?”

A gleeful smile appeared on his face when he said that. Hera didn’t feel like bickering with him. She simply hugged Tiramisu with one arm, grabbed her luggage with the other, and left.

Bernard watched as she left, his heart shattering into a gazillion pieces. He could feel every fiber of his being yelling at him to stop her from leaving.

However, he had made up his mind. He purposely asked her those questions to piss her off because he wouldn’t be able to hold back much longer if she stayed.

The moment Hera shut the door, Bernard completely lost control.

Samantha’s car came to a halt just as Hera reached the entrance.

“Hera!” Samantha pulled Hera into a bear hug after getting out of the car. “Did Bernard give you a hard time?”

“We’ll talk about it once we’re on the road.” Hera placed her luggage in the trunk and got into the car with Tiramisu in her arms.

Seeing how Hera brought pet food with her, Samantha presumed that she wouldn’t go back to Bernard anytime

soon.

“Are we going back to my place? You can stay in my condominium on Aspen Avenue. It isn’t far from your clinic,” Samantha suggested.

It suddenly occurred to Hera that Bernard knew of the place, so she said, “No thanks. Let’s head to Jadeite Bay.”

Jadeite Bay was a villa residential area between Norbugh and Jedburgh. Upon hearing the request, Samantha entered the address on her car’s display.

“Sure,” she said. “We’ll reach there in an hour. Have you gotten your driver’s license? I’ll give you a sports car if you pass.”

Hera wasn’t in the mood for a chat, so she answered absent-mindedly, “I’ll take the test when I’m free.” Samantha’s car had only just exited the residential area when Douglas and Johnson’s car drove into the area. Bernard wasn’t sure how long he had slept, but in his dreams, he saw Hera dragging her luggage behind her as she left him. He couldn’t catch up to her no matter how fast he ran. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

He never stopped running, and when he was just a hand’s reach away from her, she suddenly vanished without a trace.

Bernard’s eyes snapped open just as Hera’s pretty face came into sight.

Seeing her here made him wonder if he was still dreaming. He shot up from bed and pulled her into his arms. “Sweetie, you’re finally back. I was wrong. Don’t ever leave me again, okay?” Bernard mumbled as he hugged her. He relished the embrace. The warmth from her body gave him solace. Glancing around, he realized that he was in the hospital.

“Sweetie, you didn’t leave, right?” Glancing up, he met the eyes of the men standing behind Hera. Felix, Johnson, and Douglas were staring at him with an inexplicable look in their eyes.

Bernard was consumed by embarrassment.

Meanwhile, Douglas, Johnson, and Felix were busy with their own thoughts.

Douglas was utterly astounded to see this side of Bernard and wondered if the man on the bed truly was the Bernard he had known all these years.

Johnson wondered whether Bernard had recovered and if he was lucid, whereas Felix deduced that his hypothesis was correct-Hera was Bernard’s only cure.

“You’re awake.” Hera broke the silence. “I’ll leave the rest to you guys, then.”

With that said, she pushed Bernard away and left the ward.

Last night, when she and Samantha left the residential area, Hera caught a glimpse of Douglas and Johnson rushing into the building through the rearview mirror.

Thinking of how pale Bernard looked and how odd he behaved before she left, she asked Samantha to drive back to check on him.

Hera thanked her lucky stars that she decided to head back to check on him. Otherwise, he would’ve ripped the entire western wing apart!
