Chapter 673

“I thought that perhaps the memory you wanted to remember wasn’t a good one for you and Mr. Bernard,” Felix voiced his assumption. “He might’ve feared that you might lose your feelings for him, so he made such a decision. This will only cause his condition to worsen, of course.”

He added, “But of course, for your safety, I suggest you leave him for now. I fear that he might do something more dangerous than just altering your memories.”

Hera’s mind buzzed as a result of the onslaught of information. She didn’t agree with Felix nor did she object to his suggestion.

“Thanks,” she simply told him.

Seeing the drastic change of expression on her face, Felix decided not to persuade her further. “I’m staying in Jedburgh for some time. If something comes up, you can always contact me.”

“Okay,” said Hera, feeling grateful.

Even after returning to the clinic, Hera was still in a daze. Sensing this, Catherine couldn’t help but express her concern for Hera.

“Herie, what’s wrong?” she asked.

“I’m fine,” said Hera, snapping out of her daze. “I won’t be going to Skyview Heights tonight. Why don’t you have a stroll with Wayne after dinner?”

“Okay. Do what you need to, but don’t wear yourself out. Get some rest when you can,” said Catherine. “I’m here for you if you need an ear to talk to. I’ll always be by your side.”

“Okay. I got it.” Hera felt warmth course through her body at those words.

After closing the clinic and when everyone had left, only Hera and Tiramisu were left waiting for Bernard to come back.

To ensure that she wouldn’t overthink things, Hera took out the file of documents Augustus gave her back then. It contained an audio tape and the confidential surgery contract Linda and Philip signed.

Hera then dug out a tape recorder and inserted the audio tape into the recorder to see if the tape could be played. As the audio tape played, a woman’s voice sounded from the recorder. She was reading aloud the contents of the contract.

The voice was the one Hera had been looking for all this time! It was the one she heard from the memory card! Hera quickly took out the memory card and plugged it into her computer to compare the woman’s voice from the audio tape and the one from the memory card.

Although the female voice from the memory card didn’t speak much, Hera could make out that it was the same woman as the one reading the contract contents in the audio tape.

It was Linda’s voice before undergoing surgery!

Hera had finally found out the truth behind Daphne’s death!

Even so, Hera couldn’t smile at the thought. She noticed that the codes that were used to erase the recording looked rather familiar somehow. Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Her heart sank as she realized where she had seen them before. She fished out the flash drive Tyler gave her back then and scanned through it.

She found a similar code in the summary of codes vulcan used that Tyler prepared.

The code was written by Vulcan himself!

Didn’t that mean that Bernard was the one who erased the recording in the memory card?

Hera’s heart sank even further at the possibility. Her hands turned cold at the thought, and she felt as if she had been thrown to the North Pole.

After sitting in silence for quite some time, she dialed Tyler’s number.

“Tyler, can you help me with something?” she asked, her voice grim.

Tyler clucked his tongue teasingly. “You only call me when you’re in trouble, huh? Tell me, then. What do you need help with? What kind of task requires my help and not Bernard’s?”

“You’re an Astral Nova member, aren’t you?” Hera asked.

Tyler didn’t deny it. He simply asked, “So what?”

“Can you help me investigate something? I can only describe to you the picture.”

After handing Bernard the picture Rhett gave her, she didn’t get it back from him. Therefore, she could only describe the picture to Tyler. She told him the details, including what was in the picture and the approximate time when it was taken.

After listening to her explain everything, Tyler nodded. “Sure. I’ll look into it.”

“Thanks.”

Hera had only just hung up when Bernard walked into the courtyard.
