Chapter 662

It was nighttime. The atmosphere in one of the private rooms on the sixth floor of the Imperial Hotel was rather tense.

Chad had ordered Bernard to represent the Killian family and work out a collaboration with Caddel Corporation’s CEO, Raymond Caddel.

Caddel Corporation belonged to one of the top ten prestigious families in Jedburgh. The company specialized in smart furniture. They planned to order chips from Killian Corporation to develop new products together.

In fact, Caddel Corporation was a crucial client of Killian Corporation during the collaboration this time. However, during the discussion with the stern-faced Bernard, Raymond found himself talking as if he were trying to land Killian Corporation as his client.

Once the contract was signed, Raymond felt a huge relief. Although he initially planned to invite Bernard to hang out afterward, he dismissed those thoughts immediately and quickly made an exit.

Bernard checked the time while on the way back. Since it was still early, he asked Douglas to head to Twilight Club.

Twilight Club had rooms that were exclusive to Bernard, Shaun, and several of their friends. After serving the wine, the waiter left.

Bernard gave a call to Shaun. “Are you in Jedburgh?”

“I am. What’s up, Bernard?” Shaun’s voice drifted through the phone.

Bernard said, “Come out and have a drink.”

“Has the sun risen from the west?” Shaun exclaimed in shock.

In the past, it would be hard to even invite Bernard out for a drink, let alone ever since he started dating. He was the type who only focused on his partner and ignored his friends. If he was taking the initiative to invite Shaun out for a drink, he had to be in a bad mood.

Bernard poured himself some wine. “Stop spouting nonsense. I’m at our usual spot. Are you coming or not?”

“I’d go over on any other day. But I’m accompanying Samantha, so I can’t be there today,” Shaun explained.

Feeling somewhat irritated, Bernard downed the rest of the wine in his glass. “Go ahead, then.” After ending the call, he dialed Theo’s number.

“Hey, Bernard.”

Bernard poured another glass for himself. “Are you done with work? Come have a drink with me at Twilight Club.” Theo unnaturally cleared his throat. “Bernard, I’m in the South, so I can’t be there.” S~ᴇaʀᴄh the (ƒ)indNƟvᴇl.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Bernard ended the call without a word before calling Aaron. The call was immediately declined. He then received a message from Aaron, “I’m on a mission.”

Bernard texted Samson, who replied right away that he was working overtime. Bernard checked through his contacts. He already called all the friends he could for a drink.

Only Douglas remained by his side. He seemed rather distracted while texting on his phone and occasionally refilling Bernard’s glass.

“Are you very busy?” Bernard questioned.

Douglas immediately put his phone away before shaking his head. “No, I’m not.”

Bernard wordlessly took another glass and poured some wine. “Let’s drink together.”

Douglas quickly waved his hands. “No way. I need to drive you back later.”

Bernard frowned in displeasure. “Ask Clyde to come over.”

Clyde Harrison was Douglas’ assistant. “Clyde has taken leave for today. Something came up at home, so he can’t be here,” Douglas said.

Bernard said nothing. If Douglas didn’t want to drink, he wouldn’t force him either.

After drinking a few glasses on his own, Bernard found it meaningless. So, he put down his glass and got up. Come. Let’s go back.”

Douglas was still checking his texts in the group chat. Hearing that Bernard wanted to return, he subconsciously asked, “Oh? Isn’t it still early?”

Bernard cast a glance at him, causing Douglas to go quiet. He stood up to catch up with Bernard while returning some texts.

On the way back, Bernard sat in the back seat, looking at the night scenery through the car window. He suddenly felt somewhat lonely.
