Clifford’s expression visibly changed upon hearing Zayden’s words. He looked at Yvette and asked, “Is that true?”

Yvette met his harsh gaze without an ounce of fear. “Does that mean that Noah can’t be treated fairly if he’s not a great-grandson of the Lane family?”

Marlene chuckled coldly upon hearing her words. “How can a bastard child you had with some unknown man be compared with Malcolm?”

The words “bastard child” deeply angered Yvette. Her glare at Marlene turned icy. Upon seeing her, Marlene instantly backed away, recalling the kick from her earlier.

“Why are you glaring at me? Did I say something wrong now? I want you and your son to pay with your lives if anything happens to my son!”

Yvette clenched her fists tight. Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FɪndNøvel.ηᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

At that moment, a deep voice sounded. “What if something happens to my son then?”

Everyone turned and saw Xavier walking over with his men. He took the lead and strode confidently to them. His commanding presence made Marlene and Zayden fall silent immediately.

Clifford’s expression was dark when he saw Xavier. “Zayden told me that this Noah isn’t even your son, Xav.”

Zayden felt uncomfortable hearing Clifford mention his complaint.

Xavier kept his composure and asked, “Wouldn’t I know if Noah is my son, Grandpa?”

Clifford reiterated Zayden’s earlier words to Xavier while holding the stack of documents.

“The dates don’t match up, Xav. You’ve been tricked by Yvette,” Zayden said.

A glance from Xavier immediately rendered him quiet.

Marlene believed that Xavier wouldn’t do anything to her, seeing that she was a woman. She continued to complain, saying, “I was even kicked by Yvette earlier, Xav. You’ve got to do some explaining here!” Xavier frowned slightly.

Yvette expected him to chide her about it. However, he said, “Yvette is pregnant, yet she risked herself to kick you. Shouldn’t you reflect on yourself instead?”

“You-” Marlene’s anger left her at a loss for words.

Xavier then asked Yvette, “Are you alright, darling? Are you hurt anywhere?”

She eyed Zayden and Marlene, who were looking nervous, before saying, “My stomach hurts a little.”

“You’re just pretending!” Marlene immediately retorted.

“She’s pregnant with twins. Both your lives wouldn’t be enough to pay for it if anything happens to her!” Xavier coldly said.

Both Marlene and Zayden dared not

offend Xavier. They could only look to Clifford for help. Clifford found it hard to blame Yvette when he found out that she was pregnant with twins.

However, Noah wasn’t his great-grandson, yet he’d harmed Malcolm-he couldn’t possibly ignore this.

He said, “You need to be able to distinguish right from wrong, Xav. Noah clearly isn’t your son and someone from the Lane family,

whereas Malcolm is your neph1

You need to act accordingly to what’s important.”

Shannon, Jeremiah, and Zoey had arrived just as the others were arguing nonstop.

“What’s going on, Dad?” Shannon asked, “Where’s Noah?”

Zayden then retold the story of how Noah had tricked Malcolm into the garden maze and caused him to freeze the entire night.

He even told Shannon that Noah wasn’t a descendent of the Lane family.

The investigation on Shannon’s side had yet to conclude. Her face paled when she heard about Zayden’s findings that Noah was Claude’s son.

“I even found that Yvette had been

living together with that man named Claude Lander for the four or five years she was abroad,” Zayden continued.

Shannon hadn’t expected Yvette to cheat on Xavier. “How dare you, Yvette?”

Just as Xavier was about to defend Yvette, Mark came running, his expression filled with delight.

He whispered to Xavier, “The results are out, Mr. Lane.”
