Gemma only left the washroom once she was done comforting Zoey.
Hazel Tabitha, the director of the orphanage, said with a friendly face, “Ms. Zelnik, thank you for your sponsorship for the past decade. I’m sorry we can’t provide you with any assistance.” Gemma couldn’t hide the disappointment in her eyes when she heard that. “Maybe she died a long time ago.”
Hazel comforted her. “Since we can’t find the child, I’m sure she’s still alive out there. So, don’t give up. I’ll contact you immediately if I receive any news.”
Gemma nodded. “Sure.”
After Gemma left, the staff next to Hazel couldn’t help saying, “Ms. Zelnik has been looking for her daughter for more than 20 years, right? How did she lose the child in the first place?”
