Jeremiah reached out to pat the snow off of her body. However, Yvette avoided his hand instinctively. “Why are you here, Jeremiah?”

When he saw how she reacted, his hand froze in midair for a while before he pulled it back.

“I saw the news and learned what happened with Viola. You told me that she was as important as your actual mother. So, I knew you would definitely be sad about her passing. That’s why I decided to visit you.” After saying that, he paid his respects to Viola’s grave.

Yvette didn’t expect him to remember everything from the past so clearly, and she forced out a smile. “Thank you. I’m fine.”

Jeremiah saw how pale she looked and how red her eyes were. It didn’t seem like she was fine at all.

“You don’t have to act tough in front of me. I told you that I’ll always be by your side no matter what.”

She just nodded slightly and didn’t know what to say to him. After a long silence, she said, “I’m heading back now.”

“Let me take you home,” he immediately said.

“There’s no need for that. My car is nearby,” she said.

“How are you going to drive by yourself when you’re like this?” He sounded caring as he scolded her. “Let’s go.” She didn’t feel like rejecting him anymore.

Jeremiah caringly passed her a towel. “Get rid of the snow on you. Otherwise, you’re going to catch a cold.”

“Thank you.” She accepted the towel and patted the snow off of her body. Then, she got into his car.

He got in the driver’s seat and turned up the heater. He even played her favorite song from when she was a girl. Yvette was genuinely surprised when she heard the song. “I’d already forgotten about this song.” “I listened to it all the time when I was receiving treatment abroad,” he said.

When she heard that, she couldn’t help feeling bad. “How were you when you were abroad?”

Hearing that she was finally asking about him, Jeremiah mumbled, “Not bad. It’s just that I spent my time sleeping more than being awake.”

Just as they were about to drive off, they saw a Bentley approaching them. Then, an adult and a child alighted the vehicle.

Kiki had left her house with Zachary at 5:00 am. However, since it was almost Christmas, there was a terrible traffic jam. So, they still ended up being late.

When Yvette saw them alighting the vehicle, she immediately got out of the car. “Zac. Kiki.”

Their eyes were red as well, and they clearly cried earlier.

“I’m sorry for being late, Yvvy.” They had wanted to come the previous night. But it had been snowing too heavily.

Yvette shook her head. “It’s alright.” She knew Viola would never blame them.

Kiki approached her and gave her a comforting hug.

Zachary held Yvette’s hand too to give her strength. Just as he was about to call her, he saw Jeremiah coming out of the car that Yvette had just gotten out of. Since Jeremiah could see them, Zachary knew he wasn’t Xavier.

“Please don’t be sad, Ms. Snyder.” He changed his way of calling her. Yvette knew what he was doing and wasn’t surprised at all.

When Kiki saw Jeremiah, she didn’t recognize who he was. “Have Xavier’s eyes recovered?”

“That’s Jeremiah,” said Yvette.

Kiki couldn’t believe her eyes, thinking how the brothers looked exactly alike. She wasn’t able to differentiate them at all, and it finally made sense to her why Yvette would mix them up in the past.

“Hi, Ms. Torres.” Jeremiah reached out his hand like a gentleman. Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ Findηovel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.
