Surprisingly, the foreigners they behind them didn’t come after them.
Once outside, Yvette gasped for air. As she looked up, Xavier noticed the marks on her face. “What happened?” he asked.
“I’m fine.” Yvette roughly understood what he was asking from his lip movements.
Not wanting to discuss anything with Xavier at this moment, she released his hand and walked toward the crowd.
Xavier quickly stepped to her side, grabbing her hand. “Did someone hit you?”
He had been following Yvette these past few days. Today, he had followed along upon seeing her go to the hotel and had witnessed the incident in the hallway.
“Let go of me.” Yvette didn’t want him to see her in this vulnerable state.
Xavier refused to let go. With his large hand, he grasped her chin, checking the prominent handprint on her face.
Glancing back at the hotel entrance, he noticed two foreign men still watching them. Xavier immediately understood the situation. Ignoring Yvette’s resistance, he scooped her up and put her in the car.
He didn’t bother speaking when he noticed Yvette had dropped her hearing aid and couldn’t hear him.
As he held onto her with one hand, he typed an address with the other and sent it to someone before he made a call.
“Surround this place and find out who laid their hands on Yvette. Don’t let even one person escape!”
After hanging up, he instructed the driver to head to the nearest hospital.
When Yvette noticed the hospital not far away, there was a flash of panic in her eyes. “I don’t want to go to the hospital. Let me out.”
It would be bad if they went to the hospital and he found out she was pregnant.
However, Xavier held her wrist firmly. “Be good!”
“I don’t want to go to the hospital. Let me out!” Yvette shouted at him.
Xavier’s eyes flickered with surprise.
Even the driver was shocked. He didn’t think anyone would dare yell at Xavier.
Contrary to expectations, Xavier didn’t get angry. He simply avoided Yvette’s gaze by looking straight ahead, keeping mum as he pressed his lips tightly together.
Yvette used her right hand to try and pry his fingers off, even making his fingers bleed. Still, he didn’t loosen his grip at all.
Left with no choice, she steeled herself and bit down hard on his hand.
Xavier gasped in pain. “Are you a dog?”
Yvette loosened her bite slightly, looking at him, indicating he should let go.
Xavier only raised an eyebrow. “If you like biting, go ahead.”
Realizing he wouldn’t release her,
Yvette slowly opened her mouth et

Xavier would have preferred her to continue biting him rather than seeing her like this.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Xavier handed her over to the doctor.
Yvette explained she had been
slapped, fost her hearing aid, and et
had a ringing in her ear. She didn’t allow the doctor to perform any additional checks.
The doctor provided a simple treatment. After Yvette put her hearing aid back in, she could hear her surroundings again. Xavier was standing in the hospital corridor, speaking on the phone with his subordinates. Yvette couldn’t hear his conversation.
When Yvette walked out, he immediately hung up.
“Thank you,” Yvette said.
Seeing her face no longer swollen after she had applied some medication, Xavier extended his hand. “Let’s go. I’ll take you home.” However, Yvette avoided his hand. “No need. I’ll go back by myself.”
Xavier’s hand froze in mid-air as he watched her leave the hospital alone and take a cab to return to her rented apartment. Xavier’s car followed her all the way.
He kept thinking about how she hadn’t abandoned him and had even taken him along as they had fled back at the hotel.
He also recalled the time he had been trapped in Dibay, and Yvette had painstakingly found him alone. When he embraced her then it felt like he’d had the whole world. en.swhovels.net
He received a call from Mark just then.
When Xavier answered the phone, he heard Mark say, “Mr. Lane, the paternity test results are in.”
