Yvette’s chest suddenly felt tight.
Just as it was his first time being someone’s husband, it was also her first time being his wife.

She had no choice but to change the locks to electronic ones. Recently, she had received word of a potential business deal for a new song she had written. The prospective client was interested in discussing copyright and profit-sharing. The client was in town, and they had arranged to meet Yvette today.
Hoping to close the deal, Yvette got prepared early.
Since she had given Xavier a large sum of money, her finances were a bit tight. If she could secure this deal, it would significantly boost her annual income.
They had agreed to meet at a nearby five-star hotel. Tony Lowe, the person in charge of the company was a Longview Bay native who was reputedly wealthy.
He was a tall man with blond hair and blue eyes and was dressed in a standard suit. Word was that he preferred having people call him by his Perlin name-Mr. Lowe.
“Ms. Cameron?” Tony was surprised and delighted to see that the famous composer he had heard about online was a young woman.

As Tony shook her hand, his gaze turned strange.
Yvette was about to retract her hand when he tightened his grip and stared at her intensely. “I love Eastern women. You are gorgeous!”
Having lived abroad for many years, Yvette was accustomed to such advances. She remained calm as she forcefully pulled her hand back. “Let’s talk business first.” Tony smiled and sat down, licking his lips. “Are all Eastern women so… conservative?”
Yvette’s eyes turned cold. “Are all Western men so rude?”
Tony laughed, his large frame looming over Yvette. “If you spend one night with me, we have a deal. How about that?”
Yvette’s face turned red with anger. She grabbed her bag, intending to leave. However, Tony was not letting her go. He reached out toward her.
Seeing this, Yvette pulled out a pepper spray from her bag and sprayed it straight at him. Tony cried out in pain.
Yvette quickly rushed out the door. For a woman doing business alone, such incidents were, unfortunately, not uncommon. Yvette had almost been assaulted before, so she had learned how to protect herself.
However, she hadn’t gone far when she noticed Tony’s bodyguards chasing after her. She was about to contact Ray when she realized one of her hearing aids had fallen out.
She must have dropped it when she was avoiding Tony.
Unable to contact Ray, Yvette soon found herself cornered. Just as she tried to take out her phone, it was slapped out of her hand.

Her hearing was muffled, and her vision was blurred. Suddenly, she stumbled forward. But instead of hitting the ground, she collided with a firm chest.
“Please… help me…” Yvette looked
up, her words trailing off as she recognized the person before her. Though her vision was blurry and her head was spinning, she could clearly see that it was Xavier.
“Run!” she urged, grabbing his hand and pulling him along.
Despite the situation and the number of pursuers, something instinctively made her want to protect Xavier and get him to safety as well.
