Chapter 237
Xaver paused when Yvette quickly moved away from him. He then gently reassured her. “I’m fine now. Why did you sit here all night, silly?”
He had asked Mark to bring Yvette into the ward yesterday, only for her to adamantly refuse him.
His gentle tone made Yvette doubt herself again, wondering if she had misunderstood everything.
If they were twins, their names couldn’t be exactly the same, right? And from what she knew of Xavier now, he would never tolerate being replaced by someone else, let alone be a substitute for someone. e?” Yvette asked.
“Xavier, we’ve known each other since childhood, haven’t we?”
Thinking that she was still in shock due to what happened to him last night, he squatted down and hugged her. “Of course. We’ve known each other for over a decade now.”
Tears welled up involuntarily in Yvette’s eyes. “Yes… It’s been more than a decade…”
How could she have mistaken him for somebody else throughout all those years?
Mark was standing not far away from them. This was the first time he had seen Xavier being so gentle with a woman. Not even Shannon had received such treatment from Xavier.
Xavier didn’t understand why Yvette was suddenly crying. He reached out to wipe her tears. “I’m fine, really. An allergy this minor won’t kill me!”
He sounded gentle, but his way of speaking was different from it had been when they had been kids. Over a decade ago, when he had been injured, he had said, “It’s my fault for worrying you, Yvvy. It doesn’t hurt, I’ll be fine soon.”
Yvette felt she was deceiving herself now.
Their personalities were completely different. How could they possibly be the same person?
And yet, she hadn’t noticed this. She had even thought that Xavier had become distant after he had started dating Daphne because he hadn’t liked her anymore.
Yvette felt a pang in her throat when she thought about all this.
Xavier gently patted her back, unsure of how else to comfort her. He didn’t understand why, but when she cried, he felt sad too.
It took a long time for Yvette to slowly calm down.
She realized that regardless of whether she had mistaken him for someone else or not, she had to leave soon. They would have nothing to do with each other anymore in the future.
“Are you hungry? Let’s go eat first. I’ll take you somewhere after breakfast,” Xavier said, holding her hand. After breakfast, Yvette learned where Xavier wanted to take her-the real-life location from her favorite cartoonist’s-drawings. What surprised her even more was that the place was filled with blooming cherry blossoms, just like in the comics.
Yvette couldn’t believe her eyes, especially since it was late autumn.
“I’ll have to wait for you outside,” Xavier informed her, to which she nodded.

Xavier watched her silhouette as he stood at a distance. He couldn’t resist quietly taking out his phone to snap a photo of her.
At that moment, he suddenly found her silhouette familiar.
He had thought that if he made Yvette happy today, they would have something special in the evening. However, Yvette rejected him when night fell.
“I’m exhausted. I want to rest early.”
Knowing that she had spent the previous night blaming herself outside, Xavier didn’t press her further. Suppressing his frustration, he held her close. “Where would you like to go after we return tomorrow?” Yvette only pretended to be asleep and didn’t respond when she heard his question. They would head back the next day, and after she surprised Daphne the day after, she would be gone forever. Late into the night, Xavier fell asleep while holding Yvette.
He had a nightmare where Yvette had vanished, and no matter how hard he searched in his dream, he Cou find her.
