I was taken aback and asked, “What’s the matter? You need to compose yourself.”
“Lilly and Henry are on the brink of a quarrel. You need to get here immediately. Check the location I’ve shared with you, hurry!” After delivering her message, Elly promptly ended the call.
I was left in a state of confusion.
How could Lilly possibly be at odds with Henry? Moreover, Henry would never resort to violence against a woman, regardless of how volatile his temper might be
Without wasting a moment, I hastily dressed and rushed out.
By the time I arrived at the bar, others had already ushered Henry and Lilly into a private room. Given their prominence, any public spectacle would undoubtedly turn them into viral sensations.
Upon seeing me, Elly immediately asked me to sit next to Lilly.
Lilly was seething with anger. She glared at Henry with her piercing eyes, as if he were her sworn.
enemy.
Henry, however, was even more incensed than Lilly. He sat across from her, radiating an aura of gloom.
Duncan, who was seated next to him, kept glancing nervously between Henry and me, resembling a frightened eunuch.
I apologize, Sister–in–Law, but I believe there’s been a misunderstanding,” Duncan said. “Those women have no connection to Henry; I was the one who invited them.”
For the first time, Duncan, who was four years Henry’s junior, referred to me as his sister–in–law.
“Nonsense! Your face was practically buried in her cleavage. How can you say she has nothing to do with you?” Lilly pointed at Duncan and yelled furiously.
Duncan was on the verge of tears. This was his first encounter with such a fiery woman. He was utterly terrified.
Henry’s icy gaze swept over Lilly and landed on me, seemingly waiting for me to take a stand.
I feigned ignorance of his gaze.
I reassured Lilly, “It’s okay, you’re probably overreacting. Those women were invited by Duncan. Henry has better taste, he doesn’t go for busty women.”
To an outsider, it might seem as if Lilly’s husband had been unfaithful.
An awkward silence filled the room.
“Are you serious?” Elly and Lilly exchanged puzzled glances before turning to face me.

Despite knowing that we were planning to divorce, they were taken aback by my calm demeanor in such a situation.
That night, Lilly lost her temper and lashed out at Henry. I, on the other hand, remained composed, despite having loved him for so long.
“Of course, I meant it. Let’s go, let’s have a few drinks before we head home. It’s on me.”
I stood up and pulled Lilly and Elly to their feet. I didn’t spare Henry a second glance.
Duncan, who was bewildered, turned to Henry, “Henry…Did you hear that? They’re leaving. Your wife,
she…
“What do you mean by “my wife“? Is she worthy of that title?” Henry’s frosty voice was laced with anger. His words echoed in my ears as the door closed behind me. My heart ached slightly, but I could bear it. I don’t deserve it. Violet should be the one bestowed with the title “Mrs. Patterson.
The three of us found some vacant seats and started drinking.
Elly had just returned to the city from a commercial performance. Therefore, Lilly invited her out for a drink, and they stumbled upon Henry drinking with several women.
Under the influence of alcohol, Lilly rushed to my defense. Had she been a man, she might have been beaten up today.
“Mona, are you certain you’ve completely let go of Henry?” Lilly asked me repeatedly.
I nodded. I know this for sure.
“Good, I admire your resolve. You’re strong enough to let go of a decade–long relationship just like that!” Lilly raised her glass and downed her drink.
“You’re one tough woman!” Elly also raised a toast to me.
While we were enjoying our drinks, Elly’s boyfriend called her.
Among the four of us, her romantic life was the most stable. Her boyfriend was around her age, and they had already met each other’s parents and were planning to get married.
Being a dutiful girlfriend, Elly quickly excused herself, saying, “Ladies, my sweetheart is waiting for me at home. I have to go!”
“Wow! Are you rushing home to nurse him? Lilly teased Elly.
“What a rascal!” Elly laughed and playfully retorted before hurrying off.
After Lilly and I went our separate ways.
Elly left, I settled the bill. Then,
When I got home, the strong smell of alcohol on my body prompted me to take a bath.

A figure emerged from the steam. The man was clad only in a black towel wrapped around his waist, his upper body bare. His tall, lean physique was on full display, and it was flawless.
I was stunned as I stared at the man who appeared before me.
My gaze involuntarily swept over his body.
Despite five years of marriage, it was a shame that I had never seen him in his entirety before..
After a few seconds, I said to Henry, “This is my bathom.”
After we got married, I slept in the master bedroom, and whenever he came home, he would sleep in the guest room or study. This bathroom was attached to the master bedroom.
“Do you have a problem with that?” Henry asked in a composed tone as he wiped his wet hair.
“Not at all. I have nothing to lose, and you have a great body.”
I genuinely believed this. Despite his lack of wealth, Henry’s attractiveness could make him irresistible
to women.
Henry gave me a stern look. He suddenly took two steps forward, causing me to instinctively step back
The steam in the bathroom was slowly dissipating. Henry’s well–defined chest, smooth skin, and alluring collarbones were tempting me to touch him.
I had to restrain myself, though.
“Alright, I need to take a bath too. It’s time for you to leave.”
I stepped aside to let Henry pass.
In the next instant, a hand cradled the back of my head. He lifted me onto my tiptoes and bent down to kiss my lips without a moment’s hesitation. I could taste the faint mint flavor on his lips.
I was so shocked that I froze on the spot.
When he noticed that I wasn’t responding, he deepened the kiss. His technique was impeccable, while I was a novice. He was in complete control.
Men generally have slightly higher body temperatures. I soon started to perspiré due to the lack of breath. The charged atmosphere grew more intense. I initially tried to push him away, but he seized my hands and held them high above my head. This posture brought our bodies even closer together.
Should I give in? But I have nothing to lose by fulfilling a wish from a previous life in this one. After all, before he met Violet, Henry had been with other women. It was acceptable to sleep with his lawful wife.
was tempted. I closed my eyes and surrendered to the rhythm. A forbidden emotion was eager to take
control.
Just as things were about to escalate, Henry abruptly pulled away. He released his hold on me, and the desire in his eyes had vanished.
